I mostly got bored out there. I know people think I'm nuts when I say that... But NM took a toll on me and kinda had me hating the CDT from the beginning...

It's going to be a lot of Hawaii hikes for the next 2 years. At least until the pup is grown enough to start hiking some longer distances. Thanks man! Miss you bro

Appreciate the thoughtful & honest reflection. I started section hiking the CDT this summer and it'll take me a few years to complete This is super helpful to help set my expectations and be prepared for those crappy days. I totally get the difficulty after town days, I've experienced that as well.

Late to the party, but man hang in there--you did what you thought was best at the time and that's all that matters. Me, I didn't even complete my intended SOBO section hike of WA this summer on the PCT haha. Had to get home for family reasons. Trail will be there still if you want to go back, we all have our own reasons for getting off trail sometimes earlier than others, but that's life. Aloha and enjoy the new puppy!

I appreciate your honesty in giving up on the CDT however I just found you and a year later I do not see any videos? What happened?

I've been enjoying life, and stepping away from KZbin videos. My desire to create content comes and goes. I just got into the MYOG kick though, so there's a good chance I may be flooding my youtube channel with myog videos. So far, I've made myself a summer backpacking quilt, my dog a quilt, and I'm currently making a 40 L pack for myself.

Well, you did the AT, and that kicked my butt. I quit three times in my head and in the end made it to Hanover before I had to head home to Australia. All the best for your further adventures!

Honest reflections on your thoughts and decision making, the mental game gymnastics on a long trail are such a big part, which I have only experienced through road cycling, as my hiking is much shorter.Diggity is awesome. Love the pup. My Aussie hates my tent, gets nervous on trail, but man she is the love of my life, and keeps me safe from all the evil squirrels. Thanks for sharing.

Actually one of the joys of New Mexico is that it gives birth to the Rockies... States north wouldn't be what they are without 'The Land of Enchantment'. ;-)

Good to see you, Grizz. The old adage has always cracked me up. Who the hell would quit on a good day? Take it easy on the pup until his growth plates mature (1-2 years). Tons of literature out there about super slowly starting a dog out.

That's precisely why I said I won't be doing any long distance hikes for awhile. This guy is gonna be on small hikes ( under 4 miles) with me for the next year and a half or so. 😁

Thanks for the update miss your sense of humor on the trail,pockets should be close to finishing,out of the bubble I was following over half have gotten off,by far the most brutal trail out there, take care
