I remember meeting with my female friend, actually we were close to each other, like a couple, but we agreed that we are not. Once she asked me, what I'm going to remember about her, or what thing will remind me of her if we 'break up' and lose contact at some point. I said that I don't know, and she said that the Sweather Weather song gonna make her think about us. Now I know though, I showed her this HIMYM scene once with this song, I basically listened to this song at that time a lot, and now I feel sad listening to it. It reminds me of her.

I read a comment about two years ago when I discovered this song explaining what the lyrics meant to them. I captured the message and now, two years later after ironically experiencing that exact feeling, I can affirm what the songs message is (in my opinion): Its about uncorresponded love; living for somebody that doesn't feel the same about you. It's the dreadful and self-consumming effect of staying with somebody because you love them more than you love yourself. It doesn't matter if they don't love you like you love them, because you will still be there for them; "take your time, I told you I will stay". Thats why I also like the music video a lot, I feel like it reflects beautifully the feeling of bottling and pushing away your emotions for the sake of loving that someone... until you just, can't.

grizzly bear is so unique - they have the talent to create catchy and simple songs that sound entirely fresh and unlike any other band. and all their songs have so many little quirks and hidden layers - it's like exploring a landscape, almost. (my favourite from this album would be 'fine for now') anway, i just wanted to urge people who enjoy this song to listen to the band seaside - 'a sign' or 'the hours' are both great starting points. they are similar to grizzly bear in the way they create huge vocal harmonies and background soundscapes, and i thought they deserve more recognition so i'm just spreading the word :)
@alwaysnever7039

I've always admired that in grizzly bear, these songs are almost pop, and yet completely unique (to my ears, anyway). I've listened to couple seaside songs as well, beautiful music, but I'd say their "feel" is quite different from grizzly bear. Which doesn't make them any less awesome, of course! So thank you. :)

"Beautiful, haunting multi-part harmonies really define this song, as they rise gorgeously above the quarter-note piano chords, and then seem to soar into their own atmosphere for a moment before coming back down to earth, drawn by the steady rhythm. That kind of studied, chorale treatment of vocal harmonies in pop music was arguably invented by The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson, as he wrote ever more complex music that allowed the classic surf band to evolve into cutting-edge pop artists. (Paul McCartney once famously said that The Beach Boy's 1966 Pet Sounds was his favorite album, for that very reason.) That masterful blend of high vocal harmonies, almost madrigal in style, is on its greatest display in The Beach Boys' "God Only Knows" from the aforementioned Pet Sounds" author - Anne

Coming back to this nostalgic song. Man it makes me feel such deep feelings. I feel like I time traveled to the past to feel the feelings of that year. I haven't felt that different in such a long time. I feel like I can fly. I feel so bliss, happy, and joyful.

The video is supposed to convey artificial/fake happiness masquerading pent up feelings. That's why it's so uncomfortable. Edit: This is just an interpretation I shared. Please stop pissing your pants in rage over the idea of this being some objective thing. It's a personal perspective, just calm down and go away if you don't like it.

Modern music with originality. This is how its done.....listen to that drum track and those harmonies! Its how Brian Wilson no less would construct a piece were he in his prime today. A very fine peice of Rock-Pop. Wonderful, simple abstract video as well - the band look like twisted ventriloquist dolls. I like it
