You made my entire week. I've been chasing this problem from day ONE. Thank you Sir, what a great, easy solution. Now I love my sander.

This video was a godsend. I've had this grinder for a couple of months and like it, except for the belt tracking, which was driving me crazy. The tracking adjustment would just shift the belt left and right but never centered. There was no fine adjustment. At my wits end I turned to KZbin and found this video. I went to my machine, took off the sanding belt, cleaned off the rubber wheel, and wrapped a couple of layers of electrical tape on it in the middle of the wheel. I reinstalled the belt, fired it up and lo and behold the belt tracked in the middle of the platen. Finally!

Oh my God thank you so much i was about to pop a blood vessel in my brain trying to figure this out. Spent an hour trying to adjust the position of the idler wheel. Thanks again so simple took me less time to do this fix than it did to watch the video. Used one layer of t-rex tape I'm sure gorilla tape would work too.

Did you try 2 other adjustments 1st? 1) Loosen the 2 set screws that hold the idler wheel shaft in place, then slide the shaft left or right as needed. Remember to tighten the set screws again. You might need to do this a couple of times or more. 2) Loosen the set screws that attach the idler wheel assembly to the long black shaft. Rotate the entire assembly one way or the other to correct tracking. NOTE: It might take some trial-and-error tweaking of both to get it right. I've had my G1015 for twenty years, never had a problem with it.

Anon amous I actually took measurements and levels to every part that could be lined up and it would still fly from one side to the next ,so having built my first sander I just figured why not go full mod on it

great idea. is there a way to regulated the speed on these grinders ? mods, hacks, etc...
@jamesball73228 жыл бұрын
michael lee No sir,if you put a rheostat on it you would kill the motor faster than it would if you abused it

Variable Speed Drive or VSD

I changed the 8 inch drive roll to a 4 inch crowned drive roll like used on most grinders. Solved the tracking problem and reduced the speed. Only takes a few minutes to switch them out.

I just purchased this grinder myself. how many "layers" of electrical tape did you appy?
@jamesball73228 жыл бұрын
Two full wraps did it for me,saved me from converting it to a kmg style of 2x72
@ArkansasInfidel8 жыл бұрын
Cool deal. Thx. I plan on using this until I make some sales. Then use the grizzly with step pulleys to drive a kmg style system later on. Then again, this may be all I'll need. I dropped the main part of my budget on my evenheat kiln
