I travelled widely in Afghanistan in the seventies, three visits, the last with my own Series 2a Landrover, and went as far as Fayzabad in 1972 after crossing the centre of the country Minaret of Djam, Band-i-Amir and Bamiyan. I was not allowed to enter the Wakhan Corridor which was a major disappointment because I had been inspired by Roland and Sabrina Michaud's books. You are indeed very fortunate to travel there today. What has happened to the beautiful country and people of Afghanistan since the Russian invasion in 1979 is the greatest tragedy of my lifetime.

I am blown away by the hospitality shown by the Afghans in this video. As an American I actually don't quite know what to do with that level of hospitality and generosity. I could imagine how awkward I would feel accepting lunch in a near-stranger's home just for giving them a lift through the desert. Lovely people and beautiful video! Afghans are the most hospitable people. They welcome you even if you don't do anything for them. I remember we had a guest house and it was always open to anyone and my parents wanted me to go to the guest house and count how many guests were there every day or night and then we had to prepare meal for them. So it was a chance for me to learn how to communicate with people and exchange our cultures or experiences. It's normally in countrysides, so you need to be careful when you arrive in cities because all are not good people and you may get mugged by some horrible muggers. 🇦🇫🇦🇫🇦🇫

Wow this was epic! Afghanistan is such a beautiful country. Love your rig. That beat from 9:00 mark was adrenaline pumping. The quaint villages reminded me of when I was 10 years old & visited my motherland Pakistan with my mother & brothers. Soo many wonderful memories. Wish I could go back in time
