I live in south-west Ontario. To all who watch this review: don't get your hopes up that stores as good as this are in all towns. This store is only in major centers like Toronto or Ottawa and is an upscale store chain owned by Loblaws. Most grocery supermarkets do not carry such a variety of mushrooms, for ex., just 1 or 2 types. Especially Walmart has much less variety than other stores like Real Canadian Super Store. They have even shut down their deli counters.😡 And the discount grocery chains, such as No Frills (owned by Loblaws), are the same but prices are cheaper. If you want the variety shown in this video then go to dedicated fruit/veg stores like Longos. Also go to farmers markets when they are open in the spring/summer.

Hey so you asked why red peppers are more expensive. All colors of bell peppers are the same variety. If they harvest them sooner they are green, then they become yellow, then orange, then red. So you are paying for the length of time they take to grow.

"Why are red peppers more expensive...?" The difference between a green pepper and a red/orange pepper is two (2) weeks. They all grow big as green and then turn yellow/orange/red over the next few days. At the same time their taste evolves better. But a farmer can grow more fruit in that time with an earlier harvest and make more money. So it costs more for the farmer to wait an extra 2-3 weeks. Lately they are selling packaged peppers in 3's or/yel/red and separate greens. Greens are still cheaper/lb/Kilo but the colourful ones are not so bad. 3 peppers in a bag is about 1 lb and taste better.

Yes, definitely, very, very important when driving on Canadian roads in the middle of winter... You do actually need windshield washer fluid, and lots of it, like all the time! Excellent video. I've just found your channel and subscribed. Just one comment. Maybe the higher salaries justify such high prices in almost all the items shown, except two. Compared to Mediterranean countries, the prices in a Canadian supermarket are at least twice as high. A kilo of quality mince beef costs 7-8 euros, and a whole fresh chicken costs €2.90/kilo. The only items which are cheaper are the eggs and the potatoes, for some reason.
@73cidalia3 жыл бұрын
The higher wages here are not enough for people living on minimum wage (and a lot of employers love to pay minimum wage or only slightly more). I'm seeing a lot more homelessness than I've ever seen before. Housing prices are ridiculous. A 2-bedroom in my area, which used to be one of the most affordable cities, is now about $1,300 for a one-bedroom apartment. 😳
@MRmeggy963 жыл бұрын
The video is awesome, I find very curious to check supermarkets from around the world. Something that shocked me is the absolutely gigantic amount of products that needn't being in packaging and are just surrounded in plastic. It's massive fridges of plastic and not products! Aren't there any policies in Canada about disposable useless plastic in supermarkets and restaurants, for example? It felt frightening as I watched the video.

I would trade Wollworth's in Sud Afrika for Fortino's any day. If I could go through a portal I would go shopping in Sud Afrika because the prices are cheaper for the most part and I think the meat is tastier. The white girls are much more friendly and beautiful and can easily be picked up at the grocery store, even if they do carry a gun in their purses.
