In this video I visit Florence Meats in Oakville, and find lots of South African products such as biltong, biltong sticks, boerewors, Mrs Balls Chutney, Ouma rusks and Ina Paarman goods. I love their curry spices: Rajah’s curry powders and Osman’s masalas, Pako’s curry paste and atchars (Lime Pickle, Hot mixed vegetable pickle, curried chillies pickle and vegetable atchar). You will find easy-to-cook spice packs for Biryani, Tandoori, Chicken tikka, Madras beef curry, masala curry, Balti butter chicken and vindaloo. Yes, you will see braai relish, Robertsons spices, Cadbury’s chocolates, Speckled Eggs, BOS iced tea, Freshpak rooibos tea, Joko tea, Romany Creams, dried fruit from Montagu, Endearmints, nougat, Bakers Lemon Creams, Marie Biscuits, Tennis Biscuits, Cadbury's chocolates, Cadbury’s easter eggs (the hard white chocolate ones), Crunchies, Nosh bars, Fudge, All Gold Tomato Sauce, Bisto, Oros, Jungle Oats, Pronutro and more!
I talk to owner, Damian Goriup, of Florence Meats, originally owned by his father who lived in South Africa for many years and came to Canada. Damian proudly talks about his butcher shop and how the sausages are "old school style" made with no preservatives nor additives, basically giving customers the best product for over 40 years - from biltong, boerewors, many types of sausages: Italian pork sausages, English Pork sausages, Maple Sausages, Jerk Pork & Bacon sausages, Bratwurst, Porchetta sausage and Canadian Maple Pork sausages, never mind the smoked sausages that are ready to plate on your charcuterie board! Florence Meats has their own smoker - so it’s all done in house.
Over and above the butcher shop, you will find amazing deli treasures like mustard, top notch olive oils, vinegars and jams. Florence Meats has got you covered for those quick snacks and drinks evenings with delicious pate’s and cheeses: Duck with pistachios & pork pate, Duck & pork with orange terrine, Five games meat & pork with cranberries terrine pate!!!
You will also find fabulous desserts in the fridges that will blow your mind - try their traditional South African malva pudding! They often have a peppermint crisp tart. Don’t miss out on their butter tarts.

The Best biltong and droewors ive ever had was from a Butcher here in sunny UK. I must mention it was a south african butcher but the quality is just superb. Some of the best steaks as well. UK cant beat SA for flavour and quality of ordinary goods . Cant wait for the Hyperama store to open here in the UK

Great video. It’s nice to know some essential South African comforts are available in Canada. The prices are very interesting though.....😂😂😂 one definitely has to earn or own sufficient foreign currency (USD, CAD, GBP or EUR) to afford to live in Canada. R1,000 per kilogram for beef tenderloin is no joke.
@AndreavanNiekerk
@AndreavanNiekerk 4 жыл бұрын
Khaya Sontsele it’s not a great idea to convert! If you are earning in the same currency it makes sense somehow! But tenderloin is expensive either way!!!!

Andrea van Niekerk I 100% agree with you. Its also interesting they use the metric system to measure weight, I would have expected a similar system to the USA considering their proximity to each other. It must be the French influence I guess. Very interesting country.
