Hey! I was born in Fairbanks and grew up in North Pole. My first job was bagging groceries at that store. Of course back in the day before it was Safeway it was Market Basket. I remember when they added the mall to the store. We thought we hit the jackpot. When I was in high school it was bought out and became a Super Valu. I moved out of state in 2006 so I missed the transition to Safeway. I love your videos, it keeps me connected to the place I lived for 36 years.

I was stationed there from 87 to late 91. I loved it at Fairbanks. This youtube channel reconnects me with it. Although life turned out very well for me I will always miss it to the day I go home to be with the Lord.

There's a guy in our town that's actually from north pole Alaska and he makes the perfect Santa. He comes around to several stores here to play Santa and he has the beard and the complete look. Plus he used to live in the north pole

I'm happy that there is an actual "big box" grocery store there for you. We lost ours a few years back. Walmart is so expensive in comparison (Walmart and a small grocery is all we have). Miss seeing the sales.

We’ve been to that Safeway in N. Pole several times 🙂...we live in N. California. The price of produce ‘up there’ is what is shocking, but I guess that is what happens when it has to be shipped from far away.

Love that Sleepytime tea! Great when you’re feeling blah and trying to relax. And the supermarket chain near me that I work at (Wegmans in the northeast) has a little section for local flavor items like hoodies and cute little things related to our sports teams! These areas make good little gifts for travelers or to bring to folks out of town you’re visiting to!

I went to North Pole Elementary way back in the 70s and lived a few miles away when my old man was in the Air Force. The Santa Clause House was actually in town and later they moved to the larger one next to the highway. Cool to see how it's grown and has a few more things than back then.

I lived in North Pole Alaska on Santa Claus Ln. back in 1985 and 86 and used to shop there but I could’ve sworn that it was a Fred Meyers at that time. I remember in the winter time we would have to leave the car running and locked with a spare set of keys while we were inside if we planned to be in there for more than an hour. No head bolt outlets to plug-in at the grocery store like there was at work or apartments

I used to live in North Pole (on Turner Drive) back in 2004-2005 when I was stationed at Fort Wainwright. I used to go to this Safeways! I believe there's a chinese restaurant across from it that I used to frequent. Such memories. Thanks for uploading. Keep it up please!

Funny thing, but we live in a suburb of Denver. We refer to Safeway as 'the big 711'. We never buy full groceries there because it is too expensive but use it for the quick 'bread and milk' runs.

I lived in Hawaii for 6 years. When I would shop at Safeway the prices were more or less the same. It's because most things need to be shipped, I would imagine its the same thing with Alaska. But I can't recall if we had a sales tax in Hawaii.

I just discovered your channel about a week ago and I had to subscribe. You guys have awesome content and your family seems really great. I am Canadian so I know about winter and I was in the military so I have actually spent some time way further north than Alaska. I was tired of the cold and my injuries from Afghanistan get worse in the cold so I made the move to Mexico in September and will be moving even further in about 5 years as I feel led to go to Thailand.
