Grocery Stores Now Selling Ammunition From Vending Machines

As an openly AmmoSexual male, a vending machine where I can go buy ammo sounds awesome! However, I don't know how I feel about this facial recognition AI stuff because my little tin foil hat comes out.
But who am I fooling? I'm the same guy with two iPhones with Face ID, I have a clear and global entry pass, where I have to scan my face every time I fly.
I think I've already jumped the shark on the whole staying off the grid ambitions thing.
That said, everyone isn't as loosy-goosy as I am about that kind of stuff, so I can see some people not really liking the facial recognition part of this too much.
I also get the feeling that this is a background check, if not an outright background check, to buy ammo.
So even though I promiscuously give my personal tech devices access to my likeness before using them, something about this gives me a little bit more of the heebee jeebees.
I personally think the novelty of having an Ammo Vending machine is cool and convenient in some cases. For instance, Recently, I drove 35 minutes to go to an indoor range to do some recreational shooting, only to realize I forgot to bring ammo.
To avoid getting beat over the head price-wise at the gun range, I googled the nearest Academy Sporting Goods store ( which wasn't that near), walked to the back of the store, found my ammo, stood in line with people buying fishing gear, and then finally paid and left.
It was basically a 15-minute endeavor.
I would have killed for the grocery store down the street from the range to have an ammo vending machine where I could just dip in, pay, and leave.
I want to know what you think about this whole ammo vending machine deal in grocery stores. Are my fears unfounded, or are you like, nope, Colion Noir, you are absolutely right, not touching them with a ten-foot pole because of the AI facial recognition?

And I can also see the ATF remind us that their name also included Explosives of which they will try to "rightly" claim that it is an explosion that takes place in every bullet so the should regulate it. And then they could confiscate those pics and files and not tell anyone publicly about it except the vending machine companies. Sure, they got rid of Chevron deference but they will always try to skirt the edge of the laws until they get swatted back again, but that could take years.

All of these online ammo retailers have you submit a government ID to purchase things anyway. I've been using LG for a while, and I know full well they have my ID tied to my account. That being said, they simply had me submit it once; past that point, I just buy whatever without having to re-verify who I am.

I’m so so happy i invested in a fully optimized Dillon 650/750 XL thirty years ago. Over these many years i’ve amassed all the dies sets, primers, powders, assorted weight bullets, along with cases for all the rifles and pistol calibers I shoot, so I’m able to manufacture any cartridge I might need. All my supplies as well as loaded rounds are stored in air tight can’s with both an oxygen absorber, and silica bags, all cans are inspected every years and the two bags are replaced.

Jesus they must think I’m a mad man with all the firearms I’ve researched but never bought, at this point they must think I have a dozen Kriss Vectors, 2 dozen .375 Chey Tac rifles, 1 dozen .408 Chey Tac rifles by that logic, there is a huge difference in what they think I might own and what I do own. I’m glad to say they don’t even know most of my guns, because I lived in a state where if you had your concealed carry license (and went through all those background checks) that you must clearly be allowed to own a firearm. So yes I did fill out the paperwork but it was never ever submitted to anyone and if they get lucky and find the one or two gun shops in the entire state where I purchased my firearms then so be it, but they would have to look pretty hard.

I’ve never had an ID swiped when I use to buy alcohol, I was able to grow a full beard at 12 years old, bought my first beer in a Seattle hotel restaurant at 13 (never carded me, hahahaha) when my dad took me and my brother there when he was on business, I never get carded for ANYTHING, especially 24 years later where I’m getting grey in my beard now. There are a few firearms that are on the books but mostly I do cash just because of that $hit. I’ve kept myself off the grid pretty well, I know all my information and I google myself from time to time, and I have never found ANYTHING online about me. I don’t do social media and if I do I use a online handle.

Look at what ATM’s did to the bank tellers at banks - less people interaction, less jobs, etc. and let’s face it these days, less customer service now! I have never EVER showed “ID” to purchase Ammo. I used to purchase ammo from Walmart they started “Requiring ID” to purchase = not after that, there’s no reason to “Require ID”

Technically if you have any form of ID you are forfeiting your rights. You have the right keep everything personal within your property papers and essentials. We contract them out to the DMV which is for vehicles forget you get an ID there which is counterintuitive

As a 12 y/o child in CA in 1980 I could buy a box of .22LR at Kmart without a parent. As an adult American pushing 60 I am more than annoyed that grocery stores want to scan my Drivers License to buy beer, let alone ammo! Not an issue if have no ID and don't speak English. I do like the 10% discount a lot of stores give vets and most of the time I have to show them my VA card , but they have never scanned it anywhere yet .
