I turn into a giddy little kid whenever we get these flashback scenes, and this was the most epic scene of the whole show imo, and is EXACTLY the reason we need more modern live action clone wars content. If they made a whole season of just that I’d watch it

Why? Don't you get tired of the same old stories? Star Wars needs to stop going back to Order 66 and the Clone Wars and move the F*** on to new characters and new eras and new stories. But by all means Disney throw another Clone Wars show out there and sure throw another Empire show out there because we haven't seen that two dozen times...Oh gee an Imperial officer as a villain...How original....
@Archerdon88
@Archerdon88 Жыл бұрын
@@WhoNow283 because we’ve hardly had any live action clone wars stuff. Yeah we got the clone wars tv show which was absolutely amazing, but animated just doesn’t have quite the same feel as live action. And the prequels focused more on the Jedi and Anakins fall to the dark side than the actual war itself there wasn’t a whole lot of clone action. So really although we’ve had the prequels and the clone wars, the clone wars haven’t been done the justice of massive budget live action. Plus with how rich and diverse the clone wars era was with lore, there’s TONS to work with. And the clone wars/empire are the best bits of Star Wars, what do you want? More of Rey and friends? 🤡

@@WhoNow283 Your correct they need to move past Clone wars/ Empire Era. But last time they did that, they blew it hard. Likely I would dare say they need to leave Star Wars alone for a while, get new writers and start in a whole new time period long after Skywalkers or long before them.

I also want to believe that many of the jedi masters weren't at the temple during the attack and were off planet since it was close to the end of the war. So the only ones left were padawans and the kid who were training with the few masters who were there to train them. So with their numbers being so low the clones simply overwhelmed the masters first since they'd be the first ones out there to protect everyone, the padawans, then the kids.

Most of the Jedi left behind in the temple were probably trainees or weren't the best warriors. The best of them were needed for the war effort. I still think they died too easily against a small group of clones with blasters. I like the explanation that their emotions clouded their abilities. Noticed no serious heavy hitters was around an any that were an STILL living weren't exactly doing a very good, if any, job of organizing any sorta defense. If just a few good Knights or Padawans even banned together in big enough groups with decent mix of some using good offensive force powers while others better with blade work went in to the counter attack MAYBE quite few woulda survived as well IF enough could rally together an made a coordinated and joint effort to counter attack in mass had that been achieved even briefly the number of survivors woulda been considerably higher I think. Pretty hard to shoot a fleeing survivor or cut one down from behind trying to fight back effectively like many were when one or more are in your face slashing an stabbing with their plasma death sticks

When stated out loud how shock and grief probably got a lot of them killed it puts a better light on those who did survive. Just take bak and Jocasta. Nether were generals or battlefield combatants but staff. Yet as of now showed to do the most good during the raid. Jocasta saved a lot of people and artifacts during the raid by using the secret paths and bak clearly survived a long time as he had a ride ready and waiting as he faught his way to the extraction point long after the temple was already in flames. Jocata was a frail librarian and bak was the Jedi orders gym teacher. They were some of the people who probably interacted with the most Jedi as it was their job. Needed to go to the library jokasta, needed to do a trial or use one of its rooms bak. Yet they didn’t break but strived and pushed thru when people they knew for years some of wich we’re probably their words or under their care were cut down. This is even more impressive with bak as his wards were the kids, only three of who we know survived. Kids died that day. Yet they didn’t panic or break.

the clones actually fire in a manner that makes blocking the blaster fire eventually difficult to completely manage especially when multiple clones are firing I read/heard it somewhere a long time ago but it always stuck with me. they essentially fire a few shots in different intervals each taking turns between so the Jedi had to constantly predict/be ready for the next round of blaster fire from different troopers and they would do this til they landed a shot. after landing one shot they essentially landed the rest rather easily

Another explanation is that most of the veteran Jedi Knights and Masters were fighting off-world at the time of the Purge. These Jedi, if not taken by surprise, certainly posed much more of a threat. For instance Cal Kestis’s master took down dozens of clones before dying. Master Chiata and her padawan also defeated all the clones who were with them before succumbing to their wounds. Same goes for Taron Malicos. On the other hand the majority of the Jedi left at the Temple were either the younger padawans and knights, or those not so focused on combat roles. That being said, I’d like it if we could catch a glimpse of the temple guards during order 66. Those guards were truly badass, I guess they killed a lot of clones before they went down

As far as why so many Jedi died so quickly at the Temple during Order 66, I think it is likely that so many were either completely unaware or had forgotten that the Temple was built over the remains of an ancient Sith Temple with a massive shard of kyber crystal at the core. This shard had been filled with the Dark Side of the Force under the Sith for centuries before the Jedi claimed the grounds. I think that once Darth Vader entered the building with the intent to destroy the Jedi, that crystal suddenly recognized that a Sith was there to do Sith business and flared with the Dark Side so powerfully that the Jedi defenders were "blinded" by the Dark Side to the point that their use of the Force was all but completely inhibited. In essence, they were so enamored with the Light that when the Darkness arose so suddenly and so powerfully, they found themselves in a place that was so dark that a candle could not be seen right in front of them.
@micah06v8
@micah06v8 Жыл бұрын
There is a very important reason, that plays a huge part in why the Sith were able to overpower the Jedi, that people seem to either not know, or they completely forget. The Jedi temple was built on top of a Sith ruin, and that ruin leached corruption into the temple, and the Jedi. It slowly corrupted the link between them. So beyond all of the emotion, and confusion, and chaos; you also had their degraded connection to the Force. So it was no wonder that they were completely overpowered!

I like to think that Lucasfilm allowing Ahmed Best to play Kelleran Beq in this week's episode of The Mandalorian was a sort of redemption for him as an actor, especially with all the harassment he endured from his role as Jar Jar. So I don't know about anyone else, but I hope to see more of Kelleran Beq especially in live-action.

I mean, yes the jedi at the temple during order 66 were undoubtedly not in the best state of mind. But I think the much more obvious reason why they got cut down so easily is the fact that there were reasons they were at the temple and not deployed with the GAR in the first place, most of these jedi were librarians and school teachers not elite generals or duelists.

It was also an interesting detail that the troopers had absolutely no problem of using 2 LAATs with life fire in the middle of the as usual very crowded Coruscant traffic. Complete disregard for any kind of collateral damage for the extreme prejudice taken that night. Its not important to the story, but for me its nice situational storytelling.

The live-action footage from clone wars/prequel era is amazing. I wish that they would do much more. Just special TV series focusing on this era would be amazing. I would love something like Tales of the Jedi but longer episodes and live-action while prequel actors (except Christopher Lee) are still alive. Something like Dark Horse did in early 2000s with Jedi comic series when each issue focused on one character (Windu, Dooku, Aayla, Yoda and Shaak Ti).

I would argue for a couple more reasons. One not all Jedi were battle hardened and skilled duelists while the clones had the element of surprise and numbers while the second point is the direct opposite of the first one. These are not only battle droids they are well trained, well organized and battle hardened clones troopers, we even a glimpse of this on Tales of the Jedi show where Anakin had Ashoka train specifically against the clones in order for her to hone her skills. At that moment Ashoka could easily fight/defend herself from droids but she was quickly overwhelmed by the clones and unlike other jedi she was battle hardened and experienced duelist. Not all Jedi are as powerful as Obi Wan, Yoda and Mace Windu while many who could possible survive lacked the necessary skills and training.
@Wilahelm2
@Wilahelm2 Жыл бұрын
Another reason I would put down is the average skill level of the Jedi at the temple. The outer rim sieges were still going on, and the Separatists were still launching attacks. Most of the jedi orders best and strongest were on the front lines fighting. Many of the jedi at the temple were young trainees or jedi whose jobs kept them from fighting in the war. Against the battle hardened vets of the 501st, they stood no chance.

My impression, whether correct or not, was that the Temple had at the time the youngest, most inexperienced Jedi present. Most of the masters were either spread across the Galaxy, dead in the chancellors office, or being taken out by Anakin. Not to say these Jedi were weak or stupid, but perhaps simply the ones that hasn’t fought alongside the clones, or fought in the war.

Another thing you could say on top of fear is that the clones were far more accurate then battle droids, the Jedi being conditioned to deflect shots that had far less precision could be a major factor in their seemingly inability to deflect the clones blaster bolts

Answer "Because most of the jedi who could fight were already in the field or dead at that point, not to mention the fact that no one in the temple would have had a heads up, the only thing they'd know was there was an event happening in the force, and those lucky.. or unlucky enough to sense it, mass death of jedi.

There are two reasons why the Clones were so effective against the Jedi. First is their training. They were not only trained by Jango Fett, a Mandalorian, but by other warriors chosen by Jango, including other Mandalorians. Mandalorians designed their armor and combat tactics primarily to meet or counter Jedi abilities. Jetpacks because Jedi can jump ridiculous distances, Beskar armor to not only withstand a Lightsaber's capacity to simply cleave through most material, but also reduce the effectiveness of reflected blaster bolts, Grappling Lines because Jedi can use the Force to pull things to them, Flamethrower to push Jedi back to avoid melee combat, micromissiless(whistling bird) to rapidly strike multiple targets in close quarters. The list goes on. Mandalorians were built upon countering a Jedi's strengths. Clones Troopers were made from one of the baddest Mandalorians the Galaxy had seen(it only took Jango three or four shots to drop a Jedi that showed up in front of Dooku) and given personal training by him and those he considered near equal. Second, I forget the source, but I remember reading or hearing that a large part of a Jedi's danger sense works on intent. When the Clones are being mind controlled, they don't fully intend to perform the actions they are doing. This reduces the time each Jedi has until the last possible moment. It's not like a squad of Clones were waiting around the corner for the last five hours, intending to murder their Jedi. A switch got flipped, and they immediately acted on it, with some exceptions(Rex with Asokha). Even for a Jedi, that's a very short span to work with. And is why situations happened where they're walking a patrol and the Clones suddenly turn and fire. These are the two main reasons why Order 66 was so effective.

Still doesn't make much sense to me why the clones wouldn't just shoot the little green gremlin in a flying eggshell dead, regardless of how he appeared like in regards to either being a threat or not. Their orders were given and the brain-chip provided the necessary 'clarity', control as well as 'dedication/pressure or will' to execute the order as it was pre-implemented inside them. It is after all a sleeper agent effect and as such "assessment of threat level" should not have been a hindrance to them executing every single jedi member within the temple, with no conscience or compassion whatsoever. They have been designated as primary enemy of the republic, so they need to be executed. It's like turning in an RTS game some of your own selected troops (for example by cheat code) over to an enemy AI fraction in an instant while still being in the vicinity of your other units. The moment it happens, they get attacked and annihilated. The overall turning effect was still fresh inside the clones brains when they attacked the temple. In addition to that, it was also the 501st, which is Vaders personal legion (or this case killing squadron) who went there, so absolute loyalty lay with him anyways, meaning if he instructed them "kill all jedi scum", then they would do exactly that with no questions asked. So yeah, "green gremlin not perceived as a threat, therefore no killing" makes absolutely no sense in this instance to me. Those clones would "deep six" any living organism within that building, especially with their leader Vader reinforcing the execution order.

@equest511
@equest511 Жыл бұрын
@@shiners3328 I suppose as a "retcon order", established within the "original order 66" this can be used as an excuse, yes. Though still not very convincing since this would be the same as "lazy writing", it still beats the whole "the clones didn't perceive Grogu as a threat because he seemed defenceless, therefore didn't kill him." He was an entity/member/enemy inside the temple of the jedi, hence he must be exterminated, is what was enforced inside the clones heads via pre-programming, controlled by the chip and enforced by Vader, that's what this was all about. Assessing him as 'defenceless' doesn't cut it when exactly that particular thought isn't supposed to be part of their decision making process in this instance, since they aren't supposed to show any mercy, which is an order upheld and pressed by many safety measures (the reasons I mentioned previously). I could only accept "random luck" or "fate" or "a miracle" as better reasons that the little green guy got away, but it's highly improbable (and unfitting) that it was due to "misperception" or "wrong assessment" on the clones side. They were a mind controlled killing commando at this point. Seeing defencelessness and thus showing mercy was NOT part of their programming.

Question: Is it easy to reflect a blaster bolt back at its target? Or is that tricky and not all Jedi could easily do it? Obviously the saber would seem to regularly DEFLECT bolts often, and some sabers (Depending on lore/crystals) could absorb some or most of the blast, or reflect it back with EXTRA power. But again, how much more difficult would it be to REFLECT back over DEFLECT away? This is in response to Geetsly asking "Why they didn't just reflect all the bolts back"...

There are probably multiple reasons why the Jedi in the temple got smashed so decisively, but the factor that seems the most simple/direct is that the Jedi were not an explicitly militant order. Imo many of the Jedi we see die in the destruction of the temple were the more peaceful monk/scholar members of the order. Their best fighters were mostly off fighting the Republic's war and the temple on Corusant was basically a rearward area full of the order's support personnel. Yoda's revelations towards the end of the Clone War animated series are what make me think this. He senses the Jedi Order has played into the hands of the Dark Side (Palpatine) and the jaws of a trap are closing around them. As we saw, the Order assuming without question their job was to preserve the Republic is what set up the situation where Palpatine was able to destroy both in one fell swoop.
