Simple solution to the problem of whether the image is real or not is to have the image with a watermark in the pic saying it is Ai Generated and have it illegal to remove that watermark.

Simple but probably not very effective. A lot of disinformation is coming from overseas where US laws don't apply and it would reasonably only apply to the person doing the removal. As soon as the image reaches social media and people don't know that it had a watermark in the first place, they're free to allow it to spread from there. I think it would need to be a watermark that was impossible to remove without mangling the image but you would need a way of embedding that which doesn't get lost when you compress the file or take a screenshot which is kind of tricky, I think.

a lot of these companies (the closed models) are thinking about embedding tags in these images so they can be tracked back but... this is where open source kind of opens the door to kind of get rid of that

well prob two reasons: 1) speed -- it's open source and could be deployed right away 2) workload - why not use the best opensource option rather than put a ton of your own engineers onto something? they have said they're working on one but honestly, my opinion is the Flux is prob at least 25% better than whatever they were making also reason 3) if someone else makes it -- you might MIGHT be able to have distance from it legally since you didn't do the training on the model

You mentioned that we should get the voice model in september, 2 questions. Is this confirmed? I did hear it should be available to all in the fall, just with no exact date. Second, are we only getting the voice or is it everything? For example, what about the ability to see your screen. This was shown in the demo and is personally the thing I want the most. (I want to see if you could get it to do visual code in unreal)

Grok 2 + Flux is amazing. I think OpenAI is gonna struggle. For $8 a month we have access to the same functionality, uncensored, with a better image generation tool. Twitter subsidized it with ads, meanwhile OpenAI is bankrupt. I think this is gonna make X the most valuable company in the world.

That was true, and I moved to Anthropic as a result, but the August 8 update of GPT-4o seems to have put them back in first place. I also feel that recently Sonnet 3.5 is performing worse than it was before. So I'm switching back to OpenAI now. I follow the model. But perhaps one day I'll get sick of it and we'll all stick to our Coke or Pepsi of models.
