Truly creative people aren't intimidated by the creative work of other artists whether they be human or AI. The goal should be to create original art and be confident in it. If you're good enough it speaks for itself. AI is a great tool and it has helped me multiply myself and make putting out multiple forms of content easily while mainly using my brain and my typing and editing skills. I am excited that it's ramping up and I'm here for it! Those of us who adapt will succeed. Those who sit around complaining acting as if AI is taking all of their jobs will fade into obscurity. The social media and influencer age really made a lot of untalented people feel like they had talent. This is a wake up call. Just my opinion. Great video guys.

31:18 yes, they really need to flesh out this tech. It is like a sidenote feature hidden on one of their products but it should be put front and center. I would love to: be able to tweak it via prompting and have something like a longer episode split into a series of segments with articles that I provide. Even better would be to have it pick articles automatically each day, from a series of sources I provide. Also, I hope eventually they really do deep dives. Right now they just do really shallow takes on whatever you provide, but I would love more insightful takes, even do their own research by finding secondary sources and such.

yeah honestly I would be into like an hour long podcast of much longer material -- it should be able to scale up significantly based on size of document etc

Hi guys~! I have been working with Canvas all day today regarding my project. Perfect timing as I needed it to create and manage my docs. It is amazing. Not only does it know where to update you docs but it can update all your docs and reference them if needed. Lets say you have a doc that has certain info that needs cross reference. Well, Canvas can do it. It can also format it so you can easily copy and paste it into google docs. The cool thing is you if you send a snapshot of an image from your notes, it can update your main doc and "ALL" related docs you want that info to be included in. This saves TONS of work for me. Talking about turbo charging my workflow!!!! 🙂 Also, you can edit alongside it. Lets say you want some info to delete. You can delete it. Canvas will let you know that it also deleted this related info in another doc. Wow! Not only this doc but any doc that has is related to that info you deleted. It can create backup version in the background so you can always go back. This is just crazy!!!!

The notebook LM podcast that was mentioned where they realize that they arent real wasn't a play as he puts it... @@AIForHumansShow I was referring more to the point that for a tool that creates dialogues quite well, they missed the mark on following the ebb and flow of a debate style conversation. I get it, they created the tool to take a document and turn it into a two person conversation. But I had expected it to be equally good at tracking the shift in power and agreement from an interview transcript, a document that already has two people in a discussion, and capture the give and take in arguments being made during the interview. Instead, almost completely ignored the point/counter-point nature of the document and just "did its own thing".

10 best takeaways: ### 1. **OpenAI's Valuation and Funding** OpenAI has reached an enormous $157 billion valuation, with $6.65 billion in new funding. This signals both the immense confidence in AI's future potential and the substantial resources required to build advanced AI models. The staggering investment highlights the competition and scale needed to remain at the forefront of AI development. ### 2. **Microsoft’s AI Integration Everywhere** Microsoft is incorporating AI throughout its entire ecosystem, from Windows to productivity tools like Microsoft Copilot. This demonstrates how rapidly AI is becoming embedded into everyday tech platforms, making it more accessible to consumers and businesses. The goal is to integrate AI deeply into both workflows and user experiences. ### 3. **Real-time Voice API from OpenAI** OpenAI's demo featured their new real-time voice API, showcasing AI's ability to perform speech-to-speech tasks and enabling developers to integrate this advanced voice technology into apps. This could transform customer service, enabling automated voice systems to perform tasks previously done by human agents. ### 4. **Function Calling and its Impact on Startups** The concept of function calling, where AI is given tools or access to external services, was highlighted as a significant feature. This could dramatically enhance AI’s utility in specialized tasks like database querying or web scraping, providing startups with powerful AI-driven capabilities. ### 5. **Model Distillation as a Game-Changer** OpenAI's ability to distill large, resource-intensive models into smaller, fine-tuned versions is a breakthrough that allows more companies to use AI efficiently. By reducing the computational demands, companies can use powerful AI capabilities on smaller systems, enabling a wider range of use cases across industries. ### 6. **AI Agents and Automation** Sam Altman mentioned the concept of AI agents working autonomously for extended periods to complete tasks, such as booking flights or handling multiple tasks simultaneously. This future promises a significant reduction in human effort for both personal and professional tasks, potentially shifting the way people manage their lives and work. ### 7. **The Impact of AI on the Job Market and Startups** As larger tech companies like OpenAI continue to absorb more functions (e.g., customer service automation), there’s concern over how many startups or smaller companies focused on these services may get pushed out of the market. AI’s rapid evolution could reshape entire industries by consolidating capabilities within a few dominant players. ### 8. **Co-pilot's Integration into Microsoft’s Ecosystem** Microsoft’s AI Copilot now integrates OpenAI’s voice, daily updates, and vision features directly into its products. This represents a seamless merging of generative AI into day-to-day software, such as web browsers, and paves the way for more intuitive, context-aware user experiences across their product suite. ### 9. **Privacy and Safety Concerns Around AI** There are ongoing concerns about the privacy implications of AI technology, especially with features like Co-pilot Vision, which watches and learns from user interactions in real-time. Although steps have been taken to protect user privacy, the massive power of these tools raises valid questions about data use and security. ### 10. **Potential Legislative and Ethical Issues** With prominent figures like Sam Altman pushing for rapid AI deployment, there’s tension between innovation and the need for safety. Internal divisions at companies like OpenAI, particularly regarding safety and AGI development, suggest there may be growing concerns about ethical risks, regulatory frameworks, and how to balance them with commercial objectives. --- ### Analysis of the Takeaways: The central theme across these takeaways is the rapid acceleration of AI capabilities and its deep integration into the technological ecosystem, particularly through large players like OpenAI and Microsoft. The staggering valuation and immense funding behind OpenAI show that investors see AI as not just a technological shift but a foundational transformation of industries. Microsoft’s integration of AI into its suite of tools reflects how quickly AI is becoming a standard feature across both consumer and enterprise software. However, with great power comes great complexity. As AI systems grow in capability, they also introduce new challenges in terms of data privacy, security, and ethical deployment. The notion of AI agents being able to work autonomously or the distillation of massive models into lightweight versions represents groundbreaking potential but also leaves room for unintended consequences, particularly in displacing jobs or entire startups built around less capable AI. The competition within the AI space is further intensified by function calling and distillation, allowing even smaller companies to integrate powerful AI without needing supercomputing infrastructure. Still, the aggressive push for growth has also brought about concerns about safety, with key figures within OpenAI diverging on their visions for safe AI deployment. --- ### 5 Ideas for Further Innovation and Exploration: 1. **AI-Driven Customer Service Platforms** Expand on OpenAI’s real-time voice API by creating modular customer service platforms that integrate voice with real-time language translation and emotion detection to enhance global customer interactions. 2. **Lightweight AI for Small Businesses** Develop accessible versions of AI-driven tools tailored for small businesses that can’t afford large models but still need AI's benefits. Focus on industries like retail, food service, and local logistics, providing cost-effective AI for inventory management, customer insights, and local marketing. 3. **AI Personal Assistant Ecosystem** Build an open ecosystem for AI agents where individuals can create personalized assistants that manage various aspects of their personal and professional lives, from calendar management to financial planning, tailored through modular AI skills. 4. **AI Ethics and Safety Solutions** Develop AI safety and ethics monitoring tools that can be integrated into AI development platforms to ensure real-time compliance with ethical guidelines, preventing unsafe behaviors in autonomous agents and flagging potential biases in model outputs. 5. **Data Privacy Enhancement Tools** Design AI tools that empower users to have greater control over their data, allowing them to opt in or out of AI learning sessions on specific websites or apps and giving detailed transparency reports on how their data is being used by AI systems. This can foster trust in AI systems in both consumer and corporate settings.

I mean… industry has been pushing piles of money around for hundreds of years at this point right? It’s just this now and maybe it works maybe it doesn’t but it’s the same thing we’ve seen many times before. We happen to think it’s a big deal but who knows. But lot of people said the same thing about the internet in the beginning.
@andybaldmanКүн бұрын
@@AIForHumansShow As someone who was actively part of the internet's creation in the beginning, it's hard to compare that time period to what's happening today. The internet was a very collaborative effort, involving a lot of open standards, a lot of different companies, academia, government, and the public working together toward a shared vision. And it was a vision that everyone WANTED. There was an incredible amount of technical cooperation that went into it. It was nothing like the handful of companies racing today toward an ambiguous goal behind closed doors, with nobody being sure what the goal will look like, if anyone even gets there. The numbers/dollars are all orders of magnitude bigger, while the goal is orders of magnitude murkier, and there are ultimately a lot fewer people actively involved. All racing toward a goal that will only consolidate power further for the people who succeed, in ways that are opposite of the democratization of knowledge that the internet originally promised (and actually did deliver on for a few years, before it was monopolized and ruined by a handful of shitty companies.)

So I feel comforted by the fact that history teaches us that new advancements, chemicals, drugs etc are fully tested and we never make mistakes, never about money. Science clearly fully understands what they are doing, we should fully trust them...we are in very good hands people. A company would never put something out that they didn't fully understand purely to gain monetarily, and regulators would never allow anything without solid proof it's not going to cause problems. Otherwise we would have recalls, deaths, banned products, heck it would be like science had said smoking is good for you, they would never do that...right? 🙄We can just check history, our record is solid😁🤪 I trust this is going to end in well.💀 Oh well, at least it's going to be a fun ride, especially with you guys keeping us up to date.🤩

I really like NotebookLM as the start of a new feature, but I look forward to being able to specify more of the style details. I quite dislike the NPR-ish style, the particular voices, and their simulated banter. It is handy for summarizing the gist of a manuscript quickly, but I look forward to being able to have more control over the hosts. I'd love to be able to say, "Deliver this as a university lecture rather than a podcast" or "Summarize this in the style of Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast" to get a humour-filled version.
