I bought this remote and it sat in a drawer until now because I had no manual or way to set it up. The only thing in the package with the remote was a cord (that did not work) and it came with no device codes. The remote I have been using needed replacement so I watched many videos trying to figure it out, and none worked. I came across your video and tried it as a final last-ditch effort before conceding and buying a new remote, and it worked. I finally have a working remote control. I was able to get it to work with both my DVD and TV. Thank you!

Haha.. awesome. Mine is still going strong even though its been dropped on the tile floor may times. I tried to get one for my mom recently, but it seems like they quit making it. I got her a newer model, but it's not as good imho..

Holy moley. I never thought JP1 remotes would still be around. I wrote the One For All Cinema 7 FAQ over 20 years ago. I used to have to program the remote though a parallel port using an Excel spreadsheet. Fun times. It's a lot more professional now.

do you know where I can find the user manual online?
@grokshop7 жыл бұрын
For some reason the manual is not generally available online. However, I found a version on the hifi-remote site here: www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=12385 You have to register there to download files (click the little 'register' button in the top right area, but they don't nag you with a bunch of emails or anything when you do & you can always un-register if you want. I will put this link in the description too in case someone else is looking for it.

@@tylerrowell8768 The manual doesn't work? What does that mean? I know the link works because I just tested it myself.

i have tried all the options with my URC-6440 and it seems to work for a while then the device seems to go to a "sleep" mode and then no matter what i try no buttons work - do you think i have a duff one supplied by Amazon?
@grokshop7 жыл бұрын
Man that sux. I suppose your theory is a possibility. Have you tried to do any JP1 programming? I had mine stop responding during JP1 programming & had to replace the original image. If the original image is still on there and ok, you could back it up & then try to get it going with the RMIR tool (see the vid parts 2-4). If the original image is hosed, you could try to find a version online. Depends on if you want to get into that. If you just want a simple solution, I would tell Amazon to send a new one & start over.
