A colleague of mine in the Research department did a survey on this. It was backed up by an 80% higher divorce rate on those that got caked on their big day.. I forget how many divorced withib the year. But 80% didn't last. Out of those 90% of the ones where the groom caked the bride, were the ones that didn't last.

My first thought was "What an ass!! But in rewatching it h was gentle in how he rubbed it only on her face. A makeup repair of about 20 minutes tops. His actions while childish are something many grooms do at cake cutting time...something brides do as well to the groom. She should have laughed it off and plotted a revenge trick on him at some point on the honeymoon. Then, made a mutual pact to never prank each other ever again.

My first husband did this to me and my mom ran over with a napkin. He then put the whole top layer in her face. I had two kids with this man baby and after 11 years left. A little dab of frosting on someone's nose after cutting the cake is a totally different thing to whatever this was. As you say, it's a significant part of the ceremony, and the new "tradition" (which I hate especially when it's done like this - ruin her makeup, possibly hair and dress, and still carry on when the person is trying to get away from you to the point they're bent over backwards on the floor) could be satisfied by a tiny dab of frosting on her nose - if you absolutely must. Why you must, I dont get, but he could easily have done that instead of this. This is annulment worthy.

I ignored red flags and when I had our first baby he stayed long enough to hear from the doctor then disappeared for 5 days until he had to pick us up. I had a C-section. And there were many more cr*ppy things thru the years until I could take no more and divorced when the youngest child was 15. So.. I would say better to go early than later.

When my husband and I were engaged we decided that there would be no cake smashing in each others’ faces and that we’d follow his family’s tradition of decorating the car nicely. I was the oldest child in my family and first to be married and I hadn’t been to many weddings. My husband’s family was talking about how everybody couple they knew who smashed cake in each other’s faces ended up divorced and a lot of the time it was because the male half had surprised the bride and went overboard, ruining her hair and makeup and.getting cake on the dress, not to mention pushing in her face so hard it hurt. And then they couldn’t understand why she was so upset because it was a tradition. That’s a couple who should have communicated and I think that ended up being part of the problem. After we got married we started attending a lot of weddings for family and friends and we kept track of who smashed and who didn’t and all the smashers got divorced. My husbands sister got married a couple of years after we did and we didn’t realize that the groom’s family had made a secret plan to take my sister-in-law’s car (they were using that instead of his old car) and swiped the keys from their brother’s items in his dressing room and they took off in the car even though we had gone over the decorating plans with them. We were looking for tge car everywhere so we could decorate it with flowers and balloons and we saw them drive back into the lot and saw that they had dumped honey and hay and all kinds of crap on it, making a sticky mess. Imagine trying to get in it without getting covered in goo. Then they had to stop off at a coin operated car shop in their nice going away clothes to hose off the mess because drive through car washes were closed. I don’t know if they would have taken the car in anyway because it was so bad with honey, hay, Oreos, and other food. I still don’t like them because they knew the plan and they caused a huge mess and thought it was funny.

My daughter's wedding grand total over $400,000. They saved n we saved for a long time. One big 3 night n 4 day party with family n friends all flying in. We had fun local activities arranged to all get to know one another. A very fun family n friends celebration for love marriage to the couple as a new family. Our family would not snash cake like this. U kidding? $2800 that day for her hair n make up consultant just for her plus a 18% tip. The dress n accessories some new some where family expensive heirlooms. Oh no way!! No children but one at the wedding. A niece who flew 5,000 miles with family but she's 14.
