You're welcome, I'm glad the song is a blessing for you. I wrote it last Sukkot, when we were driving home two deer crossed the road in front of us. They were my "witnesses" that I needed to use the melody "doe, a deer" to help people learn the alef-bet!

The Paleo Hebrew letters are being studied again in our generation. The individual letter meanings can assist our understanding of Scripture passages. Paleo Hebrew teachers include Eric Bissell, Jeff Benner and Frank Seekins. Of course, the more common Hebrew Chaldean flame letters are in the same order as the Paleo (minus the "word ending" letter forms) so this song can be beneficial for memorization, regardless.
@groomanb11 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your input. I don't consider myself to be a scholar of modern Hebrew. I have read and listened to various Hebrew scholars, however, and they have made statements that pronunciations re: the Hebrew language and letters will vary, depending on location and time period. This particular song is a "Paleo" alef-bet memorization tool, for children of all ages. If you would like to use the concept of this video to create a song with alternate letter pronunciations on youtube, be my guest.

I must say this is simply genius. it so many ways people learn the visual the audio as well as the melody and rhythm. I just watched it several times and found other stuff on line and it all came to gather so fats all i need is a vocabulary and Yah is giving it to me as well. i am a gentile and have sought and asked help from so many. Now i am reading the Torah for my self and I am free from some one else translation of what he is saying and can hear it from the creator himself. I am already using this to teach others that want to learn as well. I can not thank you enough. But thank you for helping me immeasurably to read it for my self. It is one of the greatest blessings I could ever receive. Thank you And to all of you who are learning it please teach it to everyone who wishes to learn. It should not be this hard for a person to learn to read his word for them selves. P.S. If the churches have it so rite today why are our children not being taught this? It is time for a change. Everyone deserves the gift of his word for them selves.

Wow!! What an understanding!! I am not Hebrew at all, I am of the Gentiles, and indeed Christian. I have saved this Hebrew Alphebet forever, not truly understanding the letters at all, but I do know that Psalm 119 is where my interest came from, so 1 day I looked on KZbin to try to understand, still I never have. But this break down you have added offers more clarity, thank you. I am studying Psalm 34 this morning, and I am told that this Psalm too is an acrostic of the Hebrew alphebet, and I still don’t get it, but “I still think that this is a great and beautiful song... and breakdown.” ❤️

I'm glad the song is a blessing to you. Let me tell you the story...my wife Laurie and I attended a Sukkot service east of Salem (OR) in the country. The guest teacher was "paleo" Eric Bissell who taught about the Hebrew letter meanings. After the service my friend Laura Densmore came up to me and said "I can't keep all of these lettters in my head! You need to write a song about them!" I promised that I would try. ON the drive back home my wife and I started braninstorming ideas, and I mentioned "what about doe, a deer?" Less than a minute later, two deer crossed the road in front of our car! These were my witnesses! By the time we arrived home, I had the line "when you learn Yah's alef-bet, there's no end to what you'll get!" As for the rest of the song, I found a document called "Yeshua in the alef bet" in the copier room of Restoration fellowship (it was written by our friend David Klug) I borrowed heavily from that doc to write the 3 verses of the alef-bet song (7+7+8 = 22 letters) This youtube video has been by far my most-watched, with 100+ views a week. Kol kavod YHWH! I'm always pleased and humbled to hear testimonies about mishpokers who listen to it and learn to memorize their Hebrew letters.BTW, I have a FB page called "memorize sing Hebrew" if you're interested in hearing more ;^)

groomanb I definitely will and thank you again, wasn't expecting the story of the song but I love it, I've watched Eric Bissell before and I like him I also watch Alan Horvath, I saw him in a dream before I saw him on KZbin, AbbA's ways of showing us things are incredible I feel so honored and humbled that he recognizes and blesses us. Learning the ALEF BEYT has been so natural for me, I remember when I learned about the ALEPH TAV as opposed to the Alpha and Omega the Mother of my Children started painting flowers and hasn't stopped painting since - Shalom, keep looking up!!!

That is an awesome aleph-bet song, including the definitions of each letter. Really cool. One issue is the camel idea for gimel. In ancient Hebrew, according to Dr. Jeff Benner, gimel just means foot or to walk and was originally turned around 180 degrees, looking like a leg with a foot. The same idea can be seen obviously in Yod, looking like a hand and elbow, meaning to grasp or work.

Eric lives near us here in Oregon and we've met him on several occasions. His insights on the Paleo Hebrew letter meanings are fascinating and I've used his translations on several songs this past year (including "Daniel 2012" and "Shuvah YHWH") The rest of the story re: the alef-bet song was my wife and I saw Eric at Sukkot last year near Salem. After his presentation my friend Laura came up to me and said "I just can't keep all these letters straight, can you write a song that will help me?"

great song! just wondering, why did you use the Paleo Hebrew symbols but the modern Hebrew pronunciation? i think for me, it would have been more effective if you had the Paleo Hebrew symbols to go along with the Paleo Hebrew pronunciation.. nevertheless I still like it very creative!
@groomanb8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I'm glad the song was a blessing to you. You’re the second person to ask me about the letter pronunciation. My best answer is that when I recorded the audio portion I used the Hebrew letter pronunciations that I was most familiar with, now almost 5 years ago. I invite anyone and everyone to sing (or record) this little tune with whatever letter pronunciation that they prefer. The main purpose of the video is to help students learn the Hebrew letters from alef to tav, and to recall what each individual letter means.
