Same....just had our aussie groomed today! My husband asked if a blind man with a butcher knife did it.

I think my London he's 2 an beautiful would be a show dog. He has 4 champion blood line as show. He's a Harley Quinn Blue Merle. I trim him myself because I don't want him cut to short and he's only been groomer once they messed up his toenails they don't hardly grow now. Upset me so much. Aussiea are so amazing.

The ears are difficult. They always get mats and I wonder if that’s because when she was a puppy I took her in to a groomer and the buzzed it behind her ears. How do I fix that?

Thank you so much! I was looking for a show grooming video for my male Aussie. He has a standard tail (not a NBT) - how would you groom that?

I have Aussies.... Your girl is gorgeous. I have one with a working coat, and I adopted a show girl! Her hair on her bum is LONG. Are there show cuts like that? Thank you for the great video! 😊

I brush mine at least twice a week but we spend a lot time outside and she goes swimming almost everyday.

i would say brush twice a week and do trims once every couple months, shave paw pads once a month

what are the 15 coat types?
@rachelhenning8365 ай бұрын
In the fur category there are 9: hairless, short smooth (beagle), double coated short (lab), double coated medium (Australian shepherd), double coated long (newfoundland), triple coated (Samoyed), flat (springer spaniel), rough wire (most terriers), broken wire (Irish terrier). And there are 6 in the hair category: curly (poodles), rustic curly (Spanish water dog), wavy (soft coated wheaten terrier), long or drop (shih tzu), corded (Komondor), combination (pumi/doodles).

My groomer shaved part of my dog's stomach near his privates. Is that bad? Should that area still only be Trimmed with scissors?
@Boudicaisback Жыл бұрын
No that is okay, it is called a sanitary trim so that the dogs coat doesn't get urine on it 😊
@Lil-cm5vs Жыл бұрын
that is a sanitary groom and is perfectly normal for pets

i dont know why you guys refuse to cut aussie hair. I always shave mine down and she loves it and looks amazing
@ashleykbarks2 жыл бұрын
Omgggg, I'm so sorry to hear. Typically, I would not go into the groomer without telling them what I want. Absolutely no shaving on a double coated dog! And if they give my dog back shaved I would be furious. I made the mistake of shaving my dog and it took 4 years for his coat to come back in normal. I thought it would help his mats, but if I was just more consistent with brushing, that would have saved me and him the embarrassment I caused. I hope your dog's hair grows back faster than mine did. I will never go into a groomer not knowing what I want from that point. 😬😬😬
@jrad61612 жыл бұрын
@@ashleykbarks this is nonsense. You absolutely can shave double coated dogs. Mine absolutely loves it and so do I.

@Jerad Kochmann of all the shaved Aussies I've ever seen, none of them have looked "amazing".
@dev.13592 жыл бұрын
@@jrad6161 ask any vet about this, they'll tell you you're wrong. Double coated breeds and especially Aussies in particular are not supposed to be shaved, it's bad for their health because it disrupts their thermoregulation, and taxes their endocrine system trying to grow back all that hair at once. Their a naturally fluffy breed for a reason. You might actually be shortening the lifespan of your dog from doing this to them all the time.

I’m glad to know now not to trim the “tuxedo” area. My dogs looks a little scruffy and I was searching for how to do it. Guess I’ll leave it alone.

Is it the amputated tail or specific genetic breeding for show that makes this a "natural" anything?
@thisismylovehandle2 жыл бұрын
Bobtail was originally done to protect the dog from cattle stepping on its tail.
@stekovi Жыл бұрын
In many places in Canada vets are no longer cutting off the tails and letting them naturally have tails
@kelseyrajkiАй бұрын
The natural bob tail gene can be found in Aussies so you will see some that are bob tail from birth as well as Aussies with any size tail in between! For example, mine has roughly a half tail but it’s hard to tell because of all his fluff. You’d have to stand him next to a full tail Aussie to really see the difference. So don’t immediately get mad if you see one with a bob tail or shorter tail because that does not mean it has been docked!
