lil giingie, cats hate certain smells so if you mask the cage in that smell they should stay away, just make sure that hamsters are fine with the smell too

I know you posted this a long time ago, but just in case anyone else comes along and sees this: since any strong scent could be distressing to or bad for your hamster, get or make a sturdy, secure cage and keep the hamster in a room with a door. Make sure the hamster can't get out and not even a paw from your cat can get in. It really should be heavy and large enough or secured so that your cat cannot move it or tip it, even if the cat is sitting on top of it. The lid/any openings must have some kind of locking mechanism or be too heavy for a cat to move. Ideally, the cat should be kept away from the cage when no one is home since animals can do remarkable things left to their own devices (ie: close the door to the room where the hamster is). When your hamster is out of its cage, the cat should not be in the room or kept farther away since cats can go from "I don't care" to "Kill/Play" extremely quickly. It is important to remember that a hamster is exactly like what a cat would naturally eat, so there is always a chance of this predator/prey interaction happening suddenly if the prey drive is triggered.

ik this is off topic but how do i reduce biting? ive have 2 dwarves (housed together) who bite me no matter the size of cage. they break skin and i do not want to get rid of them. ive tryed gloves and ive been trying to tame them it doesnt work. one is friendly and the other is aggressive... what do i do?

Two days ago I got as dwarf hamster. And I got a cage that has a tube that leads up to a little place where he could sleep if he wanted to. And also there is a type of swirley slide that has little things so he could climb up it and it leads up to a wheel. So far he will refuse to go up or down the tube but he will go up the slide but when he is almost at the top he will jump of. How do you train them to go into wheels and how to train them to go up and down tubes?

PinkyThePuppyProductions Female long haired Syrians have medium length, fluffy fur so you probably do have what is called a long haired, you can still brush her if you want to but it is optional with the females :)

I can only find Zoom brushes for cats and dogs which may be okay for Guinea pigs but unsuitable really for hamsters. If they have a small animal version thigh that would be ideal :) A toothbrush is an ideal tool to groom your long-haired Syrian, it's nice and small and the bristles are soft. Ideally it's best to groom your long-haired Syrian once a week to reduce the build up of matts and tangles :) Hope I answered your questions, if you want a more detailed walk through then I suggest visiting Hamster Central :)
