It's actually so calming watching people set up elaborate enclosures for their animals. Such a great environment! I bet the hamster is super happy with it. I love how much thought was put into the different textures and hiding places, even the underground 'tunnel' system.

I was holding my other hamster tonight and she jumped out my hands while I was standing up and she like fell on her back but survived but I went into panic mode and picked her up straight away but she tried making another escape so my mom got a bowl and scooped her up she is okay now but I've noticed my older hamster the other one when I bring her back to her cage she jumps out my hand and starts like wanting to be in the cage constantly

Unlikely as it's a basic setup, there is still a risk of boredom in something this simple that's why it's important to also include additional enrichment in the form of new puzzles, foraging, texture and scent that can be switched out more frequently.

Correct, domestic hamsters are happiest, healthiest and safest when housed alone. They do not need companionship.

Oh my god this video was such a blessing. I didn’t even see when you posted this video, but I just got it on my for you page now and I’ve been working on this little Hamster cave hideout thingy and I wanted to cover it in like clay, but that was difficult couldn’t find any Hamster teeth clay. This is literally a blessing oh my God.

I refuse to ignore the treats for the wild birds!! Is it the same process as the hamster balls, just with wild bird seed?

Rats are good pets as opposed to hamsters in that they will create a potty area in their enclosure rather than peeing and pooing all over the place.

Hamsters also have designated toilets that they create for themselves. Read the pinned comment if you need advice on enclosure upkeep.

Love this but it would be hell to clean! I’ve had hamsters before.Poo pellets and pee all over the place! You have to frequently remove poo and replace wet litter or your house would stink. This set up is beautiful but would take a lot of daily clean up.

Update for you: tried the chew tunnels AND the hay box with treats inside mixed in. Mind you, I loaded the seed treats in that hay box. My floof picked at the seeds closest to the outside of the tunnel and waddled away. And only pulled at and picked at what seeds were easily accessible in the hay. And proceeded to turn and glare at me like “You’re kidding, right?” 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ what do you do to encourage a lazy hammy? This heifer will NOT go after anything that requires much effort! 😂

I had good belly laughs each time Lotus "redecorated" the sand pit after you sifted the sand. Loved watching Lotus turning upside down trying to get the seeds in the tube. Most of my hamsters have ignored the toilet roll tubes; just not puzzle hamsters, but a few in the past liked them. I bought a Timothy hay mat and cut it in half to give each of my current hamsters. They like to chew it up trying to get the seeds or lab blocks out. Putting curly shredded paper as a top layer of a dig box and then sprinkling seeds throughout works for my hamsters too.

Oh, I haven't watched your channel (or any hamster related ones) in a couple of years since my Syrian Dwight died. I was thinking of getting a dwarf hamster after Dwight but putting him down was surprisingly difficult for me. I figured I was gonna sell his cage now because I'm moving house and don't see myself getting a new hamster, but this video makes me want one 😅

To keep the mushroom lid on, I'd say Velcro but put the soft side on the stem so if he gets it off again it won't hurt him.
