The WHISKERS! You are clipping them. Whiskers are incredibly important, they play a huge role. Why are you clipping them?

Calm down. Sometimes you just have to clip it all away. They'll soon grow.

I thought you were never supposed to go against the grain. Poor dog, no wonder it’s squirming. I’m not a groomer but know that this is so wrong 😢

That is true for a dog with fur. A Portuguese Water Dog has hair, not fur, that continues to grow. On a curly the grain goes in all different directions.
