A song from my youth. One of the joys of listening to a channel like this is that it reminds you of songs you long forgot about, but as soon as the song starts to play, you remember it and it takes you back. Amazing how it can be years and even decades since you've heard a song, but it's in your brain there somewhere and though your conscious mind has lost track of it, it is imprinted in your memory files somewhere deep in your brain. It all comes back so easily. Thanks guys.

Your appreciation for Bread warms my heart. Like the Carpenters, Bread flew against the grain of where popular music was going from the late 60's through the mid 70's. Where bands like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd and Queen (too name but a few) blazed a far heavier path. Drowning out Bread and the Carpenters on the big stage, but never in our hearts. Their music has proven too stand the test of time and two young people like yourselves are a testament to that. Bread does have a hard rock song that was a big hit for them titled "Mother Freedom'. You both may want to check it out for another side of Bread. It's a great song. I truly enjoy your reactions. Cheers, RNB

Amen Brotha! I looooove their music soooooo much!!! Growing up in the 70s, I was such a shy, sensitive soul(still am lol) as a little girl, and hearing their songs on the radio, always seemed to touch a very special part of me, and I've never forgotten them. "Goodbye Girl", and "Aubrey" are two of my faves, along with this one of course. They were/are such a special part of the soundtrack of our youth. So nice to see their music come full circle with newer generations, and touch them just as much. Would love to see you guys do more Don Henley as well, he has some beautiful songs as a solo artist as well as with the Eagles. Thank u fam🥰🙏🏽

@@magneto7930 Hi MAGNETO,I think you're 100% correct. As a song, it's a bit more 2 dimensional when compared to their acoustic guitar with strings/ storytelling/tugging of the heart strings super ballads. These songs had seriously thought out arrangements. Mother Freedom has a more linear almost garage band feel to it. Which is why I love it!! Best wishes, RNB

Please play David Gates' solo song from the 1970's movie "The Goodbye Girl". It was an amazing romantic comedy. I think Richard Dreyfuss (JAWS) won the Best Actor Oscar that year for his performance. Marsha Mason played with him and was married to and starred in a lot of her husband's movies. This was one of many. You should also watch the film. Gates vocals are stunning!

My favorite song from Bread is 'Too Much Love.' Lead singer, David Gates, also had a solo career. He sang the title track from the movie 'The Goodbye Girl.' It's a pretty good song too. Hey Guys, I agree with buzz tp. We must have "Alice's Restaurant" on Thanksgiving day. I requested it last year. So this year let's make it happen. It's a rock radio tradition for over 40 years, especially in the New York area. Also, I believe, a new artist for you guys. Ding, ding, ding. Love you guys.

This was such a beautiful song. David's voice was so sweet and smooth and when the harmonies blended you knew you were in heaven. Bread's songs were all so outstanding from start to finish with incredible instruments in this production. Loved your reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦 🇨🇦

This isn't a hippie vibe, but it's a beautiful love ballad! The guitar solo is proof that you don't' have to shred to have a great solo! The arrangement is just perfect, and like Amber said, all about the love! If you want some Bread rock, try Mother Freedom (one of my favs), and Truckin' Down the Highway. If you really want to get your hippie groove on, react to Good Morning Starshine. There's a great video that's about as hippie as you can possibly get (which will make Amber happy). It blows my mind that all those young people in that video (that are still alive) are now in their mid to late 70's and early 80's!

Bread was my favorite band growing up. I still frequently listen to their music. I really enjoy your reactions to their songs. I would like to see your reaction to their song “It Don’t Matter to Me”. I know Amber will love it! I’m almost 70 years old and my appreciation for this band has never faded. I saw them live when they briefly reunited in 1978…just after David Gates released The Goodbye Girl.

David Gates has the smoothest voice ever. This is the music I grew up on. I was a young teenager when Bread was at its height of popularity.

I grew up listening to the soft rock music of Bread in the 70's & had their albums. Love David Gates voice. He has one of the most soothing & mellow voices. They had so many hits such as "Diary", "Lost Without Your Love", "It Don't Matter To Me", "The Guitar Man", "Sweet Surrender" etc. In 1978 Gates enjoyed success as a solo artist with the hit singles "Goodbye Girl" (from the movie The Goodbye Girl) & "Took The Last Train".

Had this album as a 12 year old.. it's excellent. "Dream Lady" is my favorite, and a great overlooked song, if you could consider reacting to it. It's from the same, Baby I'm A Want You record.. thanks.

It was a much needed sound during the Vietnam years and being in the military. Groups like Bread, The Hollies, Mama and the Papas, Neil Diamond and even Elton John was very needed to bring the tension down. I loved them all and still get the same emotions that i did back then. Thanks for playing this kind of music.

Great reaction! Bread was one of those bands you never let your friends know you liked or had in your record collection. Like, in the 70’s there were vinyl records and there were racks and shelves people bought and placed near their stereos called Hi-Fi’s which were usually in the living room and people would come over and you’d let them pick an album to play. Well, some people had a second collection in a closet or a bedroom that had stuff they didn’t want people knowing about.

Larry Knechtel and Mike Botts were top notch musicians. Larry was a member of the famous Wrecking Crew and played on hundreds of hits, but mostly on piano and keyboards, but was on the bass with Bread. And Mike was also a session player who played on hits by many famous artists

This band takes me back to when as a just released young Marine after returning from Vietnam, I was reacquainting myself to my young wife and newborn son. All the uncertainties of life before us, much like The Carpenters sang in their song "We've only just begun." Didn't have much back then, ourselves, our dreams and our music. It was enough. No regrets.

This song just reminds of summers gone by. The sun beating down on my face, and the breeze blowing through my hair. If I just close my eyes and listen, I'm right back there, in the 70s, when nothing mattered. Ahhh, to be young again. They were THE best days. 👌 🎵❤🎙🌞

Back in those days of early 90's, I started my sophomore days and all of a sudden a beautiful girl caught my eyes. Within a week I have found that I am deeply fallen but I didn't get a chance to talk to her on that large campus and I was an introvert ! I was thinking about approaching her with this song (playing it somehow to channel my inner feelings). Within few weeks I have found out that I was reading the wrong "Diary" ! Whoah Man ! How many times I read the wrong diaries in my life ! "Bread" made me Laugh & Cry as well in those lonely days of my life. David Gates has an otherworldly vocal, awesome and soooo emotional ! Thanks a lot Jay & Amber for reacting on this song.
