Sweet corn is the typical corn that is eaten by humans. Usually eaten on the cob and from the can. There is field corn but it's for barn animals like cows, and not really eaten by humans.

I'm not sure how it is in other places, but in Indiana, farmers grow 2 kinds of corn. Sweet corn for people, and bitter corn for the animals on the farm! So if you're referring to corn on the cob, you're most likely eating sweet corn :)

It's to show the man in the poem who happens upon Santa filling the stockings that everything is fine and Santa isn't angry or anything. Believe me: I'm an English teacher. I'm qualified to explain this stuff... 😝

DON'T TRY RANCH DRESSING!!!!!!! For the love of all tongues around the world, I beg you...don't do it. My teens and I did the weird soda flavors challenge.... coffee (gag - and funny enough, we said the EXACT same thing about it...burnt...like it'd been sitting in a break room on high heat all day long), chocolate (gross), chocolate bacon (very gross), sweet corn (surprisingly, we liked it because it was the best flavor of the group), peanut butter and jelly sandwich (gag!!), peaches & cream (nope...didn't taste like that at all), and worst of all....the gut-wrenching, hurl-inducing, vomitous flavor of RANCH DRESSING. All three of us panicked and went for trash cans to spit it back out into immediately. Just...don't do it. You cannot hate yourself that much. LOL!

I don't know if they do it every year but Jones soda company came out with a Thanksgiving themed collection a few years back. My brother and his coworkers tried them as a challenge: Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, etc. Y'all should do that challenge if they have it again.

FYI Sweet corn is the kind of corn people eat whether on the cob or by the kernel. There are many types of sweet corn. Field corn is the type that is grown and dried to be used in corn meal, corn cereals, corn flour, etc... It is less sweet. Field corn is also the type of corn grown to feed livestock.
