Great colors, great angles, this video is just grade A awesomeness! Cave's are great to explore on land but under water it's even a better experience.

Hi. Thanks so much for this video. I lived in Saipan for a few years as a child and I always wondered what the grotto looked like under the surface and of where the opening to the outside was. I have a lot of fond memories of the grotto and of all of Saipan. Miss it a lot. My Dad was a diver, but I just did snorkeling. That was amazing in itself.

Stunning video. Well done. Reminds me of a sinkhole I've just had the privilage of scuba diving recently with visibility pretty much 50 metres +. This kind of stuff is why I explore. I think the clearest water I've ever seen video of though was in the IMAX production 'Antarctica' when they dive inside a moving glacier. Check it out. Visibility perhaps 300 metres plus. Amazing!

Great video, I enjoyed watching. Hope you're diving with a buddy, though with your "swim outside" attempt, it certainly doesn't seem like you are. Very dangerous! ATB. -JP

Thanks Nick. Suggest you stay inside, unless you are 100% the ocean is completely flat outside, if there is any wave action it will be hell. See the video description.

I wouldn't advise anyone to jump back under after such a long swim through, it seemed that you nearly panicked there at the end. The opensea seemed pretty tame to me as well, probably worth waiting a few minutes to recover away from the rocks.. That being said I am a bedroom watcher, so it's all about perspective from the camera. Epic epic video, I would do almost anything to hit this spot up.. Amazing.. 50-100m vis is only stuff I can see on youtube at the moment. Thank you for sharing.
@jcotteri10 жыл бұрын
***** Ahh Ok difficult to tell that. Fair enough then.. Fantastic footage anyway. You have probably been asked a shite tonne about your dive watch as well. It flashes and beeps at certain predetermined depths, which is probably very handy for your videos and editing. Though would be handy for me too. What are you currently wearing? Keep the great videos up, I have been checking your channel out for a few years now and thoroughly enjoying it. Giving me some good dive spots to hit up later.

***** True..well, it wasn't a rainy season when you here. But the grotto is mysteriously bipolar with its water, but it's great that the time you were here it wasn't so rough! and yeah, gets scary. And live here? that would be cool if you do! Much more other places to see and it's nice to live here according to other Caucasians and races from different places who live here...they really love it.

Great place and cool video + skills! As I do some cave freediving lately, take care to always put a hand above your head when you go up. I know it might feel silly if you are sure the roof of the cave is high etc, but it really will save your head and possibly your life one day (I still remember that other video where you bumped your head into a little boat). Cave diving is a whole different game from regular freediving (although I imagine you having shipwreck experience you feel more comfortable with it)

Hey ! I think you actually will, especially since with the mask and firm jaw you already reminded me of a superhero of sorts :D Looking forward to see your new video, it's an amazing place. I'm an underwater art photographer who also likes to work with experienced freedivers, would be amazing to shoot together there. I have something similar near here but scaled down 10x, and very unreliable water conditions (coffee to 7up basically). Too bad you live so far away, I'd enjoy showing you all the awesome freediving spots around here and shoot some nice photos of you in the meantime.

Was freediving there just 5 days before you while on my commercial tour of the Pacific. Awesome footage of the passage to the ocean, keep up the great videos. Did you get to check out the shipwreck in between Saipan and Managaha Island?
@mpdaubner9510 жыл бұрын
***** I got some decent footage of the ship. Fun dive, but you're right, it would have been a much worse dive with bad visibility. I got to see the tanks too, cool photo op, but definitely way too shallow. Stoked to visit more of the spots you've been to, especially the tanker and everything.
@mpdaubner9510 жыл бұрын
***** The ship I was on had a small Whaler that took us to and from Managaha when we got time off work. Its a long video but I've got all the Saipan footage on my Cruise video. Hoping to get better with the GoPro with more practice. That looks awesome, would love to go to Micronesia soon. I saw a couple of those Japanese Zeros in Saipan as well, such a cool dive
@louaron44868 жыл бұрын
You know they say you need a red lense once you dive lower than 10 m because otherwise the videos have no bright colors because of missing red tones. Do you ever use red lenses, and if yes when?I Also i was wondering what this video would look like if you would have used a red lense on your camera. But somehow the blue-ish atmosphere in the Grotto, which i think is caused by not using red lense looks so sureal and cool, it might even make the difference in this video and is the reason that it is my most favorite video of you Dean. Keep on!
@hmurdock10 жыл бұрын
I notice you sometimes don't use your hands at all during the duck dive! When I do this I get stuck at the surface flapping my legs... Its also hard diving with the monopod in hand, now I just put the GoPro on my head.
