My advice is to not give up. Stay strong. You must have mental fortitude. Approximately 1/3 of my basic class at Ft. Benning got kicked out or recycled because of failure to adapt to a regimented lifestyle or physical inability. Start running, push-ups, sit-ups, chin-ups, 3 months prior, makes it not as stressful.
@TheInfantryLife8 жыл бұрын
that's solid advice if I've ever heard it.

Josh Ochoa I went through OSUT at Ft. Benning 25 years ago and then we ran about 2 miles per day with force marches regularly. You will also do lots of other PT and weight training. Don't worry, they will acclimate you. Have fun!

@jaybiddy9556 жыл бұрын
The 11B will be trained in Combat Life Saving (CLS) each squad has a aid and liter team which is there to help the medic (Doc) The 68W is the Doc who's attached to the infantry platoon he hangs back with the platoon Sgt and conducts aid if necessary in a instance of a fire fight you probably won't shoot much What do you prefer blue cords or red crosses

Paratrooper Infantry 1986 - 2002 Yeah it is all extremely heavy lifting and moving the whole time. Plain and simple. Then you move shoot and communicate. Then you lift, and move. Over and over again. The horror of combat is short, bloody and not nice. Then you move out carrying big fat heavy rucks yet again. The life of an infantryman, is hard. Brutal. You are a pack animal that is expected to kill once you drop your ruck. (Thats' your rucksack, that weighs 60 LBS, by the way) You are always tired, hungry, pissed off and ready to kill someone. That's the way the Army wants you. That's the way I was for 6 years and 2 combat tours. Second generation soldier, would'nt trade the hell for anything.

Don't be an uptight boy scout because you're just another joe. Its important to get along with your platoon. I can't tell you how important that is. I'm not talking about popularity contest I'm talking about ego. You'll see older guys there and retread prior service guys who got in because they realize civillian life is a fucking grind. You're not better than them. If you act like some uptight boy scout you'll become the platoon punching bag. In high school you're friends might think their cool and everyone gives you validation but its a cold shock when you first get there and realize you're not special.

I don't regret any of my time in the military, if that's what you're asking bro. It set me on a good path in life.
@TedBronson19188 жыл бұрын
If you don't mind my breaking in on your question, I think I can give a couple of positive points to ponder about joining, things that will benefit you the rest of your life no matter what job you get later on. They're also reasons why a lot of employers will prefer to hire veterans. First- self discipline. It includes everything from getting up to go to work on time to making sure your work is completed to contolling yourself in tense situations and more. The military will develop that quality in you if you want to get promotions, or if you end up in combat situations-to stay alive. Second- Small shit won't intimidate you and make you unravel. Third- by the end of your enlistment you'll have a good idea of your own abilities. Things that will cause others to hesitate you won't think twice about doing. Fourth- you'll probably develop a good work ethic that will make you a desirable employee. Reliable and hard working employees are valued, and you'll stand a head above otherswhen they bitch about putting in an extra half hour in a regular 8 hour day. In comparison, 8 hours will seem like a part time job to you. I hope this helped you. Good Luck !
@alexanderoconnor69367 жыл бұрын
Good shit! Thanks for keeping it real. LoL Prior service (USMC) switching over to Army (infantry - did infantry for the Corps years ago too). Looking forward to it - dunno if you know if the environment is much different or not? Either way - good video!

Is there a difference in Basic Training because of your MOS? For example is Infantry Basic Training harder?

I wanted to join since I was 14 but can't. I was born with a physical dissability, which effects me from my knees down. I'm 23, smoked for 10 years, and now have a fucked up lung. Dreams destroyed T_T

When I went to MEPS in Indianapolis (because Columbus Ohio MEPS is dirty as fuck lol) I got to put Airborne Ranger in my enlistment and did it all right when OSUT was done...this was 2006 though, things may be different

Kind of off topic but I really need help. Recently took the ASVAB and got a 47 with a GT score of 103, got a couple of options for jobs some with bonuses. One job I was interested in was 11X because of the routes you can take within it. Long story short, didn't get Option 40 but my recruiter said that it will become an option that I can volunteer for, is that b.s.??? and are bonuses b.s. all to get me to hurry up & enlist???

Is there a written test in infantry School
@tomsellek77108 жыл бұрын
All I want to do is Infantry. I haven't received my ASVAB score yet and I am doubting myself. I'm not quite sure if I made the passing score or if I fucked up and have to go to MEPS to retake it. I'm a fucking moron and probably made between a 7 and a 34. Just wondering if I will have a chance to get Infantry even if I have a low score? I believe the cut off score is 31 for High School.

My asvab score was 70... I'm 2 weeks away from being infantry. I can form complete sentences and not walk into walks. I find it disrespectful already when people critique me for my job choice.
@macburger50265 жыл бұрын
it is precision if you want to waste years of your life doing a job that has absolutely no translation to the civilian world, thereby increasing your chances of being a homeless bum on the street because you can't stay in the military forever; if you want a job in the military that you won't even actually do 99.99 to 100% of the time unless you are in a war zone in the middle east; if you're the type of disgusting freak that you *WANT* to literally be wallowing in your own feces for longer and more often than other MOS's because infantry goes to the field and stays longer than other MOS's; if you want to ruin your body no matter how good of shape you're in from extra ruck marches and running; if you want to be spending even more time out in the motor pool cleaning out the same storage sheds over and over and over again moreso than lots of other MOS's in the Army because there just isn't anything else that your chain of command has for you to do; if you want to be a migrant worker pulling up weeds and mowing lawns with a push lawnmower out in the hot sun more than other MOS's when the chain of command decides that there's even less for you to do than the motor pool; if you are not married and want the absolute shittiest barracks for such a long time (and remember, the army isn't like the air force where not only does the AF have nicer barracks, but they also let their members leave at the rank of E-4 whereas Army doesn't let unmarried soldiers leave until they reach the rank of E-6) because since you're infantry, you're lower than shit anyway..... have at it hoss. Yes, it is your life but you can't blame people for thinking you're an idiot and/or someone who isn't normal and is absolutely filthy.
