1:41 I just retired as a marine electronics tech and seeing a pilot house/ lav not full of old food, moldy life jackets and tangled fishing gear is amazing 😂 i hate spending 45 min just de junking cabins, beds, eng spaces .

It's just to protect the boat from the dock power shorting out and causing damage to the boat. It's never bad to be redundant. ☺️

Are marine electricains able to work on the shore side of the shore power?

I’d say even if they had the knowledge, a licensed electrician would be required by law/regulation

I would not work on the dock side but I will test to see what voltage is coming out of the receptacle. I also make sure the Hot, Neutral and ground in the correct locations.
