I feel you. We were waiting almost 5 months on our annual since the OUV (German association for experimentals) lost the CAO license and needed time to regain it. When the ARC was finally there, the electronics started to go crazy and we are now in the process to exchange electronics and avionics - while the plane is AOG again... And since that wasn't enough, the newly bought aircraft (we bought it crashed) was hoped to be repaired and back in the air by last Christmas. Actually, we are now working on getting the ARC. Waiting is a pain! Great to see you have finally passed the end of the tunnel. It gives me hope our planes are flying again soon!

I feel your pain. Same thing happened to me, although it was more my own fault. I made a perfect landing to full stop in my gyrocopter - 1 meter above the runway!! BONK... After having flown 35 hours in early summer, I had to find another undercarriage bow. And it wouldn't start - defective ignition modules. New modules and new oil and coolant hoses. Completely overhauling the carburetors with new floats and all. So I haven't flown for 9 months - until tuesday 9th. I have planned a great flying year...

Terry, it’s not fatigue, the problem is bad design. The factory has been quite open about the issues. We even planned an EC funded project in collaboration with them. But that didn’t get the grant we needed. Composite landing gear design is an art, plus a lot of quite complex engineering. I would wager your new legs will fail in time.
@ShortField8 ай бұрын
I know John these are a perishable item. Hopefully the factory sort themselves out with quicker deliveries or they let us buy direct from Comlet.

Great news you’ve got CZ back, it makes my own 3 week wait (and counting) for my aircraft seem nowhere near as bad. New wing fabric fitted but stuck now waiting for the airfield runway to dry out enough for the test flight. Likely to be May before I get it back now 😢
@ShortField8 ай бұрын
Thank you Geoffrey it was a very frustrating time. Hopefully yours will get sorted for the summer?

Glad to hear your plane is back, interesting video and tour of the factory. The new MOSAIC rules being proposed for the US will probably allow for 4 seats and retracts; it seems they are already planning for this. Fiberglas struts take a beating on turf runways, the upgraded new ones should have fewer issues.

Great your back in the air again! Do use any specific flight simulator when not able to fly on the dark wet English winters? Also if you fly to Andrews Field again could you possibly give me a good look at the layout and how the runway looks. I have built the airport in X Plane 12 and I wanted to ensure its accurate. Thanks. Your channel is inspiring. I have a sport pilot licence but living in Thailand I only get to sim fly atm. :)

Oh yes I love MSFS2020 and I'm going to do a video about it soon. Don't know about X-Plane but there is some fantastic scenery for MSFS of Andrewsfield EGSL which I use to practice stuff on. Hope that helps and thank you?
@GunniesLetsFlyVFR8 ай бұрын
@ShortField I've used both but as a Low Hours Sport Pilot X Plane 12 has much better flight modelling. Points into crosswinds etc. Graphics not as good for sure. Depends what you prioritise. X PLANE has a free demo. You can fly for 15 minutes at a time until the joystick stops working. Restart a flight again to continue. Like it buy, not sure uninstall. Hope this helps :)

A cracking video Terry. I've not been up since 2020. So sorry you've had aircraft issues - the joys of ownership, it's not all roses around the windows is it, almost as challenging as living with a woeman at times🤭💔🤕 Are those struts warrantied? They don't seem fit for purpose or of a satisfactory quality if they keep failing (and have been redesigned - requiring a pair)🤔🤔 Is that the same airfield for Evektor (I note Bristell are there). I didn't realise that the Sports Cruisers were still being made🤔 How did you like the C42? Solid feeling old buses - shame that the fuel gauges are often iffy (leave the inspection flap open and look at the fuel tank instead 😳😉😕). I'm not a fan of overhead flap levers and the cockpit is far from ergonomically perfect, but overall a nice aeroplane 😊✌️

@@ShortField Really? Was it a fault in The original manufacturing? I read some where that the hollow centre had some issues.
@ShortField8 ай бұрын
@@stevenstyles7602 I think it was a combination of rough strip flying, maybe flying a little over weight plus over 2000 landings and it's the old original legs. The new ones have a longer life apparently.

Like your videos but you need to fly and trim this aircraft with two fingers. My instructor was an F-17 fighter pilot and he made me learn and trim with no white knuckles but to use two fingers. Take the challenge
@ShortField8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind words. The trim buttons on the SportCruiser make it really difficult plus you can't take your hands off the stick (unless a/p is engaged) it's not an F-17 it's actually pretty unstable in bumpy air.
