Michelle Willis - “I first envisioned this album as a double album, one crafted in studio, and one live, same 11 songs. I was curious about what version would feel the most true. Live performances (as we know too well now) are so fed by the audience, the interaction, and energy of the room. Sometimes when we record in studio, that magic can be lost to the microscope lens, but in the best scenarios, that same lens refines and hones songs into the most succinct and exploratory versions of themselves. There are elements of both scenarios that can’t exist in the other, and I was curious about what each would yield. So, I got planning, and we did it! We made two glorious albums. David Crosby flew in to Toronto and performed as a guest at the live concert with my OG bandmates in a renovated buddhist temple (Ya. It was special). In the end, it became clear that the studio record really was *the record*, and that the live concert like many live concerts, was a reflection, a document of a fantastic moment in the life of these songs, and certainly for me in my career thus far. I hope you enjoy Green Grey (Live).
