What defines a craftsman is how you approach a problem. Everyone encounters problems but a craftsman makes it look like there was never a problem in the end. May I suggest a product to try that I like a lot for bonding hard to glue items. Shoe Goo in the footwear section of Walmart. It's a liquid rubber type tough bond that's even works on shoes !

Great lure, as always. I watch Marling Baits as well, I can't tell who is more talented, but I noticed one thing: he makes fins from hard plastik, while you make it from soft material. And oh my gosh, it makes so much more sense for the fishing lure.
@zimmtex11 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! I do also use polycarbonate fins from time to time, but I agree that these silicone fins make a lot of sense.

Beautiful bait! Just a suggestion from me being a builder myself. The slight nosing down can fixed by a pin style hinge and adjusting the bottom screw eye out or the top one in. That's what makes the double hinge style hard and a little more unpredictable because once it's together you cant adjust or tune the glide. Regardless very nice and well put together glide!🤘

Happy to see this lure being finished. Love following through the problem solving and development processes, it is a fantastic learning opportunity. And I completely enjoy watching function testing of the lure in open water when it's complete. Your content is exactly what I hope for when searching for lure builds! Super job Zim!

What an amazing video! I love what you did w the blue tape so you could spray the head, and it’s good to see I’m not the only one who can have paint peel randomly. 👊🏻😂. I’d love to paint one of those in a bass pattern!

Great vid, just found your channel while looking for videos on lure making! I'm trying to use putty with your silicone method since I'm using lead and tin and silicone has too low heat resistance. Keep it up and greetings from Finland :)

Have you tried Bondo skim coat for the imperfections? Also are you placing any epoxy in the pilot holes or is coating the screw eye enough to get it done?
@zimmtex Жыл бұрын
Have not tried bondo skim coat; I'll have to look into that. I just coat the screw eye. I made a video testing the pullout strength you might find interesting: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpy3gpSkrM2hi5I

@@zimmtex Hey, Mike. I was going to suggest Bondo, as well, and for the last year, I have used it exclusively both for repairs and for filling my weight holes. Mikko at SolarBaits does the same. Both of us concluded that super glue, whether mixed with baking soda or not, is just too difficult and time consuming to sand and shape. Trust me, and try the Bondo; I think you'll love everything about it except the odor (which, fortunately, isn't terribly toxic). One caveat: a single drop of catalyst goes a LONG way. In the beginning, my batches were "kicking" much too fast! Best, Chris (in Maine).
@zimmtex Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your input on this. While I've used Bondo before, I haven't used it for a skim coat. I did have problems with it setting up really fast but maybe I should try backing off on the catalyst as you suggested. I do still like baking soda and Instacure for structural fixes, but I agree it is not the only answer. Thanks!
