Great looking lure. Before casting in epoxy, for a glass like finish, coat the master in a thin layer of epoxy first and let it cure on your rotary setup. Then mold it, because the texture from the master always translates to the surface of your mold. Don't be afraid to put sprue vents on all the high points of your mold, and squeeze slightly and often before the pot life is up on the resin to evacuate all the accumulated top bubbles. I use a pressure pot which is a gift for perfect casts. I could tell you stories about the expensive mistakes I've made learning.

Super sick! I think what would have made it easier would have been to carve a a skeleton and place it inside the mold, then injected your clear resin so that you didn’t have to sand back into your clear resin to carve out the bones. But that’s just my .02. Awesome design and attention to detail!

Supa cool video showing a lot of skill and some great ideas! Quick question, should you have done a quick no-frills version of the shape to see if it will swim well, or is this shape of lure pretty much guaranteed to work? Obviously you’ve thought of this but I didn’t see you mention it. 😀
@zimmtex4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! So, this design is basically a lipless crankbait. These types of lures need weight in the bottom as close to the nose as possible and a tow point on the top of the head. Knowing that, you can make a lot of variations like this one. To get more 'shimmy' in the action, you can make the top of the head flat and loose the fins. I do think that making a prototype is a good idea, especially if you intend to make a lot of the same lure.

Just scribed to your channel. Wished I had your email or contact info. I’ve never made a video much less hv the knowledge of how to post it to utube, I’m 60 and computer challenged for sure. But great artistic and imagination. I’m working on making a clear lure kind of like yours but I loved the inside 3D head and gut you did so I’m starting over but making a Rapala Jointed shallow Shad lure. But hv a few ideas I’m adding to it. Just ordered today new holographic foil for hot stamping the head and gut as well bones, going to make a bone skeleton or trying to make the bones now. Using small SS rods to make a rib cage on extend to the lateral.bone w/ hook loop. So you said eye loop just held in by resin? Man sure would hate to loose a trophy red fish or trout with eye coming out but going to try mounting it like you did. Would like to know the little dremel you were using. Thanks great vid
