Okami is still one of my favorite game ever. The art style aged so well if we compare it with game with a bland realistic art style. The Switch version is probably my favorite because of the handheld mode (you can use the touch pad of the screen) and HD Rumble. 😁

Looks like the Wii version has slightly different textures, but the ps4 version for me looks the best and most authentic to the original.

The Wii version was developed by Ready at Dawn, and if memory's correct, it was pain to put together since Clover Studio was shut down. I think there were parts that had to be remade from scratch and that beautiful paper effect was absent. Controller wise, it was all motion based, which made the game so unbalanced and sometimes unnecessary painful to play. It was until I've played the HD version (made by Hexadrive) that I saw how good the combat was originally designed. All versions run at 30fps as at that time most games were programmed specifically to the target frame rate. Changing it would either require an overhaul (more expensive and time consuming), and modding to 60fps would most likely break the game's logic.

@@shibe5763 issues aren't related to draw using the Wiimote. Combo system handled by wiggling isn't as responsive as button pressing, and your wrist will suffer on long play sessions. And try dodging with the Nunchuk to the direction you want and see how many times it will incorrectly register. PAL version also suffers from audio syncing issues during cutscenes if played in 60Hz.

Wii version had its merit back in the day but I would just play the Switch version if I wanted the motion control. And the PS2 version looks cooler than the Wii version.

Okami HD on PS3 is 1920x1080 native resolution. Why set it to 1280x720?

yes according to eurogamer the okami ps3 version runs at native 1080p with 4xmsaa antialiasing filter.

The assets are actually rendered in 4k and are then downscaled to output at 1080p.

Switch ps4 and pc look really close to each other. Hard to pick which version to go with. Pc for upscaling or switch for portability

Eu acho incrível como esse jogo envelheceu tão bem, o Okami no ps2 é lindo o fato de o Hardware do ps2 ter tankado essa qualidade é um feito impressionante até hoje. E as versões posteriores de okami principalmente a de ps4 conseguem elevar um jogo que já é excelente a décima potência. Isso é ARTE.

Underrated? It was rated with practically universal acclaim. Underrated is the very last thing it is.

PS2 version any day of the week. Better frame buffer effects, textures and somehow the higher resolution makes it look way too clinical and sharp. Not having a moveable camera disqualifies the Wii version before any of the other faults. Ōkami uses the PS2 better than just about any other game on the platform. The strokes are perfect with the DualShock. There isn’t that much to draw in the first place, so the simple movements makes it far quicker than the waggle controller.

Graphic aside, the wii command where better than the ps2. Drawing with the wii was smooth.

None of the re-releases seem to preserve the paper texture all that well, but dang Wii is just the worst looking all around. I could maybe forgive the colors being out of whack but the incessant blurring and the lack of paper filter is not acceptable. This was the one I had and back in the day everyone was saying that it's an excellent port of the game but yeah, no, it was anything but. Gotta have to buy the HD one on Switch now and replay an actually faithful and accurate version of this masterpiece.
