I first played this game a few years ago on the wii and it is definitely up there next to the legend of zelda series as on of my my favorite games. If you didnt play it yet, PLAY IT. go out and purchase it, borrow from a friend or order it online because if you liked LOZ then you will LOVE okami. Seriously, guarenteed. I find it such a shame at how little people even know this game exists. The most underrated game ever.

It makes me really sad that this game did not became a regular and popular series. It is easily one of my top 5 best games of all times, it's beautiful, has a good gameplay and it's very fun. And a long game (I made 100% and took 60h to complete it). So yeah, I'm sad I'm not going to see a worthy sequel to this masterpiece. =[

Looking through the comments, Im pleased to see Im not the only one who feels this is their favorite game of all time. This was the last game I played on the PS2, and it was fitting to send off the PS2 with a game of this caliber. To those that played this game, I think we all can agree the last hour or 2 of the campaign was probably the most uplifting experiences in a video game. Thats what won me over. Capcom outdid themselves with this one, and if they ever decide to make a sequel to this game, I would be all in.

***** Yes, I am well aware that Okamiden is the sequel. But I have finally found a great solution for Okami. In the near future (hopefully this year) I'll buy a Wii U and I will not just get Wii U games but also Wii games and among them we have Okami :) I've had interest for a Wii U in a long time. Though I really want one now I'd like to wait until E3 to see if maybe Nintendo will announce a Mini/Slim model (that is better than the other models overall). Otherwise I am going for the 32GB Premium/Deluxe model. Förresten, jag märkte nyss att du sa att du lever i Sverige likaväl :P Jag har ännu inte sett Okamiden i GAME eller GameStop, fast min lokala GAME har löjligt höga priser för begagnade spel och gamla spel fast nyare kopior för de. ***** Jag har redan kollat upp i princip alla Wii & Wii U spel och jag vet vilka jag vill ha. Jag har sett att det finns Wii U Premium med Mario Kart 8 och det vill jag ha. Jag har fortfarande inte spelat ett The Legend of Zelda spel än men The Wind Waker HD är en av de få jag vill ha från serien.Jag har Super Smash Bros. för 3DS (första gången jag spelat SSB och älskar det) och Wii U versionen känns totalt värt det. Och Metroid Prime trilogin har jag också siktat in mig på. Wow! This was a great review on the game "Okami." I wasn't sure about getting the game before; but now, I'm definitely going to make a purchase soon. "Okami" is definitely a game worth adding to anyone's Wii collection.

Despite how much I like Okami, I have a few complaints. One: the Brush Gods' personalities; Many of the Brush Gods, in their intro cutscene, were portrayed as idiots in their epic cartoony failures before their dialogue begins. I'd let it slide if only a select few, like say the monkey gods, were the goofballs, but no; we get nearly every single one of them! The only one I could stand was the Dragon, the very first one you meet, because he doesn't have a cartoony entrance. As for the others, I facepalmed at nearly all their intros. (The cat god chasing Issun was pretty funny, though.) Two: The final boss; Who here was expecting a giant demon to be the final boss? Perhaps an anti-god looking to overthrow the high goddes Amaterasu from her throne? ME!!! What did we get instead? An oversized machine ball with bomb ports, an extendable hand, and a slot machine application...(among other things)....a bit out of time period? And just ridiculous design there...I was a bit disappointed. Also, the second half was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I'll admit, it's different, but it's not the good kind of different. I personally would have wanted it to be a demon king using powers similar to Amaterasu's Celestial Brush to attack, and you'd have to use one of your powers to counter. (The music is awesome, though.) Three: the Moon god; Anyone who knows japanese mythology knows that the God of the Moon is Amaterasu's brother Tsukuyomi! instead, we get a rabbit god named Yumigami... Huh? I know I'm being nit-picky here, but...come on! I so wanted to see more than just Okami Amaterasu! Why couldn't we get a black wolf with a moon reflector divine instrument and, maybe, have Tsukuyomi as a boss battle, where afterwards he gives you the moon brush power? That would have been a better concept; Tsukuyomi testing Amaterasu after her long sleep. (Like if you agree with me on any of these) Other than that, though, Okami was an awesome game.

i personally don't think the game was trying to be completely true to japanese mythology. (need i mention kaguyas bamboo rocket ship at the back of sasa sanctuary?) the cartoony gods i'll admit was a little out of place but it never really bothered me, at least their dialogue wasn't cartoony (dear god imagine what that would've been like?). and if anything i wouldn't say the final boss was what annoyed me; what really annoyed me was having to face orochi 3 times.

Yeah. And that's what's annoying about that boss. Me throughout the fight: "Seriously, I can dodge that bite attack you keep using; let me see the rest of your heads' special attacks!" Seriously, to this day, I still don't know what all eight of his heads' special attacks are. I know his fire, plant, wind, and water. But the other four, I have never seen because he never uses them! Way too low A.I. for him. DARNIT, CAPCOM!!!

Sunlight Blaze Yami find I actually a relay creative Boss Battle. Its relay awesome what they could make out of a ball. The Symbolic of the Phases is awesome, the Music is Awesome, the fight plays great and fore me it was unexpected and strange in a good whey. Giant Demon would be not that creative and Anti Amaterasu would be a Cliché. Meybe a good one but still. Yami and Xemnas(KHII) are my favourite Final Bosses till Today.

The HD version is just wonderful; it's how Okami should have always looked. I got it when it came out for PS2 and really enjoyed it. But now, six years later, I appreciate it even more. I never noticed how great the music in this game is. Running through Shinshu Field just evokes this soaring feeling of running free. This game has aged like the finest of wines. Everyone and their grandma needs to experience it.

97Multiphantom Where I don't think its worth the large hype its been getting, Being a "Good Game" isn't all that sets it apart from Okami. Okami was really an innovative idea. Okami took a great risk for its time and there's nothing like it in a market that is so overly saturated with alot of the same. I do love RPGs, But undertale is too similar to earthbound for me to be able to says its genius because despite having a good story line, it seems to be somebody elses genius.

Even though Okami is my favourite game of all times for obvious reasons and I would defend its outstanding beauty with my life, Undertale was actually one of the few games that managed to come the closest to the feeling I had when playing Okami. I dont think that the hype for Undertale was unjustified since to me, I found it to be an amazing game with lots of thought put into it and I can see why people obsess so much over it but I can also understand why so many people got annoyed by the hype. Still, I think both are amazing games in their own style, even when Okami has earned a very special place in my heart that no other game could ever replace.

@jrydland I have never been able to complete this game in less than 15 hours. It actually encourages you to to play longer than that. You get a special item at the end of the game for spending more than 15 hours to beat it. My first playthrough took me 23 hours to beat. I just LOVED to explore the world of okami without some damn time limit.

I played this game some time last year because of a short written review I read about it being a lot like Zelda. It didn't disappoint. I absolutely loved it. That being said it's the only game I've played on my own in years (usually it's my brother playing them and me helping when it's needed). The Japanese folklore ties in beautifully with the music and the graphics. The only part I wasn't too keen on was the sunken pirate ship, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the rest of the game :D

The game for the PS2 is quiet fun indeed and the soundtrack to the game is done very beautifully. I have yet to try it for the Wii and I can't wait for Okamiden to come out. Hopefully that'll be soon.

@jasminnows It's a play on words, in Japanese. The kanji used in the title (大神) translates as "grand god", pronounced phonetically as "Ōkami". But, the phonetic "Ōkami" has several different homophones in Japanese, that is, words with different meanings but sound exactly the same depending on which kanji is written down. "Ōkami" written as "狼" does in fact translate as "wolf", It can also mean "big paper" when written as "大紙", or even "big hair" when written "大髪".

If you can, buy this for the Wii. A bit unresponsive sometimes with the motion controls but it is most probably the best way to experience Okami. :) INCREDIBLE game!

Get your sensor bar checked, and if you're having problems with the fleetfoot skill, it's usually because the nunchuk balance and motion system is broken. My nunchuk had a broken balance system and I'd unconciously use fleetfoot everywhere, then i got a new nunchuk and it was fixed.

I started out playing Okami on PS2 and then I had to give it back to the friend I borrowed it from. But then by the luck of amaterasu I believe it or not found the Wii version in the back of my grandma's truck. She bought it at a yard sale for a dollar and gladly let me have it. I was so happy!!!

It beats any Zelda game in beauty, emotion, and gameplay. The bosses are challenging and require some thought and massive amounts of skill. This game will have you pouring your life into it. Probably the best part about this game is the endless (not a hyperbole) replay value. Even when you beat the games, you still have to learn all of the SECRET brush techniques, collect all the stray beads, and even discover all the secret gestures of the hidden brushes...... Dear god.... I love this game...

The reason Call of Duty is so popular is because it's easy to learn, hard to master, and got arcade, constant fun down to a science. While it is not as detailed or high-quality as games like Okami or Darksiders, it's a game that anyone can feel like a boss and have fun in. Anyways, my favorite game is actually Age of Empires (play it with Chibi all the time :P). I'm an RTS buff, but Okami and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon are definitely my favorite RPGs.

It allows you to use your celestial brush. So if you press R1(that's on the ps2, i'm not sure what it is on the wii) the screen will look like paper, but you can still see detail.

I have to admit, I was afraid of this game's art style at first because it creeped me out big time. But the game became more and more fun and adventure filled. It was also nice that it had a long story.

Best 20 bucks I ever spent! This game is epic and a definite winner of the most underrated secret jewel ever created. Maybe with Amaterasu being a playable character in the new Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Okami will get more recognition.

i have ps2 version, it looks a little better on wii but do the controls make it worth getting again even at a very low price?

I run this in 1080p internal 3D resolution on my PC using the PS2 emulator and it looks so fucking awesome! I never played it before, and I'm about 2 hours in. I never owned a PS2, so I'm enjoying all the games I missed. Since most of these games are quite dated now, it's great to be able to run them at true 1080p without any of that interpolation bullshit.
