A mother and father in Scioto County, Ohio stand trial in the death of their infant son. Young Dylan Groves was found dead 30 feet down a well last year, prosecutors said. Authorities blame the boy’s parents-mother Jessica Groves, and father Daniel Groves-for what happened. The defendants are charged with aggravated murder, murder, kidnapping, endangering children, tampering with evidence, interference with custody, gross abuse of a corpse, and four counts of felonious assault.
Problems stemmed right from Dylan’s day of birth on January 10, 2019. The boy was born with drugs in his system, authorities claim. Daniel Groves later got the child back after showing that he followed regulations, but the defendant allegedly started missing important dates, including court dates and doctor’s appointments.
Investigators claim that both defendants bolted on a four-wheeler when authorities dropped by the home for a checkup on May 20, according to WLTW. Deputies obtained a search warrant, got Jessica Groves to give herself up quickly, but Daniel Groves was only arrested after a six-hour standoff. Authorities said they found $42,000 of stolen items at the residence, and later found the late infant in a well.
Deputies said Dylan Groves didn’t even make it to a full three months of age. They claim there’s evidence showing he’d been dead since March.
How Baby Dylan Was Found In the Well:
A coroner determined that the victim had been slain. The child sustained several bone fractures, had been wrapped in plastic bags with duct tape, then put in milk crates that were wrapped in chains, and other bindings, according to WSAZ. The crates were weighted down with rocks and a weight, authorities said. As in his birth, Groves died with drugs in his body, according to the coroner. This allegedly included methamphetamine.

Daniel Groves took baby Dylan from the arms of that beautiful and loving foster mom and placed him in the hands of a baby killer.Daniel then watched Jessica beat him over and over again until he was dead. He is just as guilty of murder as she is, if not more so.

The baby was in Daniel Sr.'s custody. He was responsible for caring for baby Dylan, yet he let Jessica beat him to death, then lies on the stand that he knew nothing of Dylan's injuries and he had nothing to do with murdering his newborn infant. Daniel Sr. is every bit as guilty as Jessica for not protecting their baby from his homicidal wife. The jury didn't buy into his b.s.

When I get really upset and cry a lot I soak a tissue very quickly. She used the same tissue for ages. The ‘tears’ go away suddenly when she spoke to her lawyer? She hides behind her hand the whole time she is ‘crying’ and also why are her eyes not pink and puffy from crying? She lied and lied saying ‘I promise you drugs had no part in this’ and ‘I did not hurt my baby’ and then when she testified she said she did it but also couldn’t remember but it was all her and not Daniel. And ‘it was an accident’ but that would possibly apply if it was on one occasion but there were several different occasions that poor little Dylan was assaulted. Were they all accidents? How can she remember it was an accident but not remember what happened. Finally she said she hadn’t been able to shower then recalled that she hadn’t been given any soap to use in the shower. Which is it? She lies and changes her story constantly. He just shows no emotion or car at all. I really hope that other prisoners get at them and make them suffer. I cannot believe she was going on about showering and washing when her poor poor older son has got to live with this his whole life and her baby didn’t live at all. If she had post natal depression she would no care about showers and washing. She would be too depressed to care.

Full credit to the judge for his words at the end of this clip when he was trying to advocate for a 15yr old child's wellbeing whilst living in a small town and having to testify against his own parents to get justice for his brother. Whilst the judge had no legal power to stop the media publishing the boy's name, he certainly tried to reason with them. He probably showed more care to that boy in those few minutes than his parents did in his prior 15 years...

i feel so bad for that kid. unfortunately small towns can be brutal for the relatives of violent murderers regardless of how complete their innocence is. i felt like the detective & prosecutor sort of hinted at that as well when the latter very pointedly asked the detective if there was any evidence that Jr. was involved and she said 'absolutely not'. yes, it's partly so nobody can show up later claiming Jr. was involved to try and get the heat off of themselves, but I do think it was partly to send the message that people shouldn't punish this poor kid for who his parents are. I feel terrible for him.

What's she supposed to do in this case? She's got more chance of walking on water than pulling the miracle she's trying for but that's her only option. What would your super lawyer god level self do in this case?

I’m AMAZED how she can turn the tears on and immediately off to suit her needs. One minute she’s whining, the next, not so much. She does it in the courtroom too. AMAZING,!! Their older son will need major therapy; I pray to God that he gets it.

The female detective and prosecutor were outstanding in their fields. The Groves were near unbearable to watch. It saddens me that they have no emotions over their children. I pray the Lord looks after young Daniel, keeping him safe, healthy and happy and baby Dylan can no longer be hurt by those two horrific monsters.

She was completely uncooperative from the day of Dylan's birth, and now she expects consideration? She deserved the poor treatment she got from jail staff, even though technically they were violating her rights. I'm so glad she was made miserable and hope she still is.

If you believe they treated her that way. Absolutely no proof of it. The law is you must be assigned an attorney within 48 hours, most are within 24 hours. If she really was being treated in this manner you can be sure her attorney would not allow it and try to bring civil violations into this case.

Daniel’s sister can’t be trusted. Her brother shoplifts and buys drugs. Sorry if she is better than that, but surely she is not qualified per the GoFund Me policy. There are plenty of people who must have got Dylan buried, and the Grove family has to give up on any claim to him.

I watched them sit in court and I held out on any judgement. The woman especially look so distraught. HOWEVER, after hearing her on the phone?! I have a whole different attitude toward her. I think her conversation on those phone calls does her more harm than anything. What a self centered woman. Everything... me me me. It was hard to listen to but spoke volumes. I feel no empathy at all now.

She was still under the influence of the drugs when she's making these calls and thinks she can lie but the woman sitting in the court room at that moment is clean and remorseful I see it and I feel it but the woman talking on the phone is still high,, she has no access to the drugs that she was used to taken so her system is cleaned out and now the guilt in the shame and remorse for what she did is there

@@tracikonrad3605 Drugs don't last for weeks, or even days for that matter. And most of these calls are from after a few weeks of her being in jail, without access to any drugs. She was more than likely withdrawing from her drugs, but definitely not under the influence of any drugs.
