A mother and father in Scioto County, Ohio stand trial in the death of their infant son. Young Dylan Groves was found dead 30 feet down a well last year, prosecutors said. Authorities blame the boy’s parents-mother Jessica Groves, and father Daniel Groves-for what happened. The defendants are charged with aggravated murder, murder, kidnapping, endangering children, tampering with evidence, interference with custody, gross abuse of a corpse, and four counts of felonious assault.
Problems stemmed right from Dylan’s day of birth on January 10, 2019. The boy was born with drugs in his system, authorities claim. Daniel Groves later got the child back after showing that he followed regulations, but the defendant allegedly started missing important dates, including court dates and doctor’s appointments.
Investigators claim that both defendants bolted on a four-wheeler when authorities dropped by the home for a checkup on May 20, according to WLTW. Deputies obtained a search warrant, got Jessica Groves to give herself up quickly, but Daniel Groves was only arrested after a six-hour standoff. Authorities said they found $42,000 of stolen items at the residence, and later found the late infant in a well.
Deputies said Dylan Groves didn’t even make it to a full three months of age. They claim there’s evidence showing he’d been dead since March.
How Baby Dylan Was Found In the Well:
A coroner determined that the victim had been slain. The child sustained several bone fractures, had been wrapped in plastic bags with duct tape, then put in milk crates that were wrapped in chains, and other bindings, according to WSAZ. The crates were weighted down with rocks and a weight, authorities said. As in his birth, Groves died with drugs in his body, according to the coroner. This allegedly included methamphetamine.

@Colleen Roberts I agree 100%. They are too busy being PC and soft on these criminals. They do not put the children first, although they think they do. The best thing for most of these kids is to remove them permanently from these horrible people and let a stable, decent couple adopt them.

In these kinds of cases, I’m inclined to suggest that PSI’s be completed by DOC & an Independent Assessment service before the trial begins. I’m not suggesting M. H. ‘excuses’, but more so that doing so before the Penalty/Sentencing phases would get greater overall highlighted attention to where we must unite across Party lines to fund improvements in order to legitimize access to skillful mental health care and appropriately staffed social services. How ABD ehat insurance providers are covering also must be evaluated and changes to range of MH coverage must be made. These egregious murders are not simply about just saying No to Drugs.

No or very little means of transportation, very little communication with the outside world and it's standards because they lack transportation, very little education and no means to afford anything past high school even if they do manage to graduate high school. It’s trying at times to do my job knowing what many of these women have done to their own children as well as what they’ve done to other people’s children. Prison is the best place for her to live out her remaining days. Happy (earth) Birthday in Heaven sweet baby Dylan! Your life on earth was short but you have impacted thousands of strangers with your story. May Dylans story touch every addict who hears it, and bring them to their rock bottom. I don’t mean that offensively. I certainly don’t mean that to sound as tho’ all addicts are murderers. That’s obviously not the case. I simply refuse to believe Dylans death was in vain. His abuse started in the womb with drug abuse, and his life ended at the hands of a drug abuser. This tragedy may have saved his brother from a future of drug addiction, or worse. How TF do you NOT REMEMBER causing multiple skull fracture, broken ribs and arm bones fractures and cuts to you Newborn infant?! I remember every accidental "injury" I ever caused to my newborn . There was once I accidently hit my daughters head of the door frame walking into a bedroom. one time I scratched my son changing his diaper. Hit my daughters head off the cabinet lifting her out of the baby bath on the counter . They are all much older now...and I cried more than they did . These injurys these sickos caused were not accidents

@Sara Allison Call me a bleeding heart, but... I cannot find it within myself to hate or wish harm upon anyone. A society creates these "mistakes," and as long as we blame the person and nothing else, nothing gets solved - it will not stop. No, I'm not saying what she did was okay - very much NOT okay. What I'm saying is, simple blaming/hatred never works to solve anything - not just her, but anyone. Obviously there is a societal problem, and I think we need help figuring it out. :( (lots of stupid people are not violent - I doubt "stupid" is the problem)

When I came back my sister was crying and freaking out I opened to door and she was holding her arm saying it hurt really bad. I ran in and told my dad to call 911 and freaked out I was hysterical and crying when the police came to back up the ambulance I said the same “am I going to jail, I’m so sorry I slammed the door” the cops laughed at me but were kind in saying “no it’s okay we know it was an accident.” I’ll never forget how bad I felt for weeks I literally waited hand and foot on her for weeks as it had broken her arm. I’ve had broken ribs (3 at the same time) and it’s freaking AGONY. Every breath is agony. But I did not ALSO have 3 broken bones in my arm, 2 skull fractures and a broken shin bone at the same time. I can’t imagine the pain. I’m an adult and knew how to help mitigate the pain and also could take extra strength Tylenol, an option Baby Dylan didn’t have. Sadistic doesn’t even begin to describe what she did.

How can you say something is an accident if you don’t remember. Also how could your husband not know a baby has pain from cracked ribs? These two POS need to be locked away for good.

It's my impression, that the mum only cries for herself. It makes me angry to watch her at the stand. It breaks my heart, that this poor little baby didn't stand a chance in life and was let down by everybody but the woman, who took care of him for 12 days.

“She” didn’t have time to grieve, but the baby didn’t have time to live. She had so many opportunities to get help as well as the dad. The CPS worker did a horrible job but at only 6 months on - where was her supervisor? Drug addiction is a horrible thing and eventually you lose the choice to do anything but get help. Which she forgot
