@texasprepper2 - try using two 1x1 wood strips under bags. tis will air prune roots on bottom of bag. this will make it easier to remove plant at end of season.

Im wondering if I can make my own Marinara/pizza sauce. I think that might be a little too ambitious. There's more important things to learn. Hi from Southwest TN. I know this was 2 years ago. I have been taking potting mix bags. Cutting little holes 3-4 inches from the bottom of the bag. Fitting them down in the grow bag. Then fill. It works so good for me. During the winter, I save several peppers. My garage is south facing. It take them in and out daily. Except when it is under 45 degrees. I over winter them plus I get peppers in the winter. It works the best with Jalapeno and Cayenne Peppers. I take a bloom and pollinate each bloom. Also I top them out before winter by cutting growth from the top. And pruning any dead or yellowing growth. In spring, I do it again and add more dirt and fertilizer. I enjoy your video. You have great tips as well. 🌻👩🏼🌾🌻

I just cut some of the new tomato plant growth and made "clone" plants. they will wilt down but soon put on roots and perk right up. That way I had a new plant that was better than allowing the old "used up" plant to continue. Hopefully, I will get a fall bumper crop of tomatoes.

How long does the water last in the bottom of the tray? How much water do you put in the tray? I have 5, 7, 10, 15, and 20 gallon grow bags. Is it necessary to water from the top also?

@BIGALTX4 жыл бұрын
@@dianeladico1769 Great to know, Diane. Is the production good?
@dianeladico17694 жыл бұрын
@@BIGALTX Yes, it is. You need a container size to approximate the area the plant would have in the ground if you want maximum production. Most potato grow bags are big enough but I've used all kinds/sizes of bags, pots and containers and gotten good results. Fingerlings need less room, about 3 (nursery) gallons. I cut the seed potatoes to 1-2 eyes for containers. Do you know Home Grown Veg? He's a rockstar of small container growing. He'll get 1.5+ pounds reliably from a 10 inch bucket with one small seed potato. Allotment Diary uses bigger containers. Just to give you an idea of the range and what you can expect. If you have the time, they're worth watching. One caveat: containers heat up faster than in-ground and once the soil temp hits 80 tuber growth is done so start them early. You can also start them in late summer and let them mature into fall since you have such a long season. By the time the fall crop starts making tubers it will be cool enough. HGV's 'fast start' process gives a great head start for Spring planting. Looking forward to your container potato videos!
