Nice setup, I have the barrina shop lights and a rack ready to be set up. Needed a video like this for an idea on how to higher and lower the lights without changing the shelf height. Thank you.

We are glad the video helped, and we hope you were able to set up your Barrina lights. We are prepping our rack and lights now too!

Thanks for watching. Let us know how the T8 setup is working out for you as we debated for a while between T5 and T8.

Thanks for the info! I don't have experience with grow lights yet as we start in the greenhouse. I have 2 small ones I want to try out this year to get some peppers going early inside!! Looks like with your garden size it may be time to move up to a GREENHOUSE!!! (its an adult version of a playhouse LOL!!)

Adult version of playhouse - LOVE THAT! Yes, we keep talking about a greenhouse, we are experimenting with some sun mapping this growing season to see if we can find a best location.

Great video! What height do you have the lights over your seedlings hung?
@homeright Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback, very much appreciated. We normally keep the lights about 2-3 inches over the seedlings and do we also try to adjust the lights as the plants grow. Thanks for watching.

Hello. New subscriber here enjoying your channel. I use the Barinna lights to start my seeds. I continually have a problem with my brassicas. They all seem to sprout really well but later on all slowly die. Not a soil or watering issue. The only thing left are the lights. Could it be that my lights are too close to the new seedlings? Discouraged. Thank you for feedback and recommendations.

Thanks so much for watching and subscribing. Greatly appreciated. Our struggle with brassicas is that we have to allow about 2-3 more weeks of indoor growth over what the seed packets suggest. We keep our lights about 2-3 inches away from the plants ( closer to 2" when they first start to keep them from getting leggy). These lights are on for about 12-14 hours/day. Since you have eliminated it being a soil or water issue, my only other thought would be temperature being too warm. Also not sure what your humidity levels are. Ours fluctuate pending the season, but typically around 45%. Final thought might be to add a small fan to the young plants just to move air around.

tray 3 a week later the Feit grown plants were reaching towards the middle of the tray.
@homeright11 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. Feit lights only reach a limited space, and we need to rotate the trays in the early growing stages more so than with the barrina shop lights.

Thanks for doing this. The Feit lights in Canada are $60, in comparison you can get 4 4ft T8 LEDs for the same price. $60 is too much for a 19w light that can barely light up an area the same size of its physical footprint.
@homeright3 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. We do still use both with success but are finding ourselves using T5 lights more and more each year.

@homeright I was gifted 2 Feit lights (a pink light unit and a purple light unit) and was considering buying more of them until I saw the prices on them. I was wondering if there was anything to them to justify the price, your video showed me there really isn't.

Wouldn’t full spectrum lights grow a better quality micro green?
@homeright2 ай бұрын
@@pineconewhisper we have had very good success with t5 lights to grow our micro greens, but we only grow them on a very small scale. I do imagine a high quality full spectrum may give better results but you can still get good micro greens, at a lower cost, with t5

East coast its pronounced "Fee-it" but is suspect that's anglicized.

I've been using regular 4 foot florescent lights for over 10 years for my clones and seedlings. With great results. They are cheaper to purchase. And you get more covers. You just have to use a sun light tube and a warm white tube. This will give you the spectrum you need. I purchased a few of those Feit lights years ago. Those things are useless. I'm shocked to see you getting any kind of results with them. Mine are sitting up in my garage somewhere. Anyway check out regular florescents you will be surprised at how well they work. Good luck.

Hey, thanks for the info on the florescent lights, this year we are planning on using the Barrina lights more so than the Feit lights.
