Just a tip about lights: Timers are really inexpensive (like, $10 USD) and are a great way to regulate how much light you're personally exposed to. I set the grow lights around my desk to come on when I'm not around, and turn off at about the time I settle in for work or general gaming. It keeps eye strain to a minimum and allows me to better co-exist with extra light sources.

I happened upon the GE light after just a bit of research and took a chance because it was so affordable. I’ve had it hung over a few houseplants for about a month and I’ve seen really healthy growth from things that barely grew last year. I’m really happy with it and love that I can use it anywhere.

As a simpleton houseplant parent, I don’t find the need to spend the money on Soltech, but the GE bulb for “Seeds and Greens” has been wonderful affordable solution to getting extra supplemental light to my houseplants without that weird burple color. what do you think about soltech claiming the rang for their light is up to 84"? Considering the particles per second and lumens are significantly lower than the GE light which recommends no more than 24" I feel like soltech misrepresents its effectiveness. The Soltech is available in wide (60 degree) and narrow (36 degree) variants, but I haven't been able to find any good info on the GE. Amazon lists the beam angle as 110 degrees, but that would be very wide, and since GE's product page doesn't mention it, I don't trust Amazon too much.

That's why Soltech Solutions was created as a visually appealing grow light that fits right into your home. GE light has more blue light which washes the color our of your plants and actually do not last as long as soltech lights. They last 3 times as long as GE. GE lights are designed to fail using crazy marketing to confuse people. Their lights are not rated for 8 hour days of constant use.

@@nhatreally it actually might not be. The light will still work. LEDs don't burn out the same way standard bulbs do. The efficiency and effectiveness will drop off dramatically after its rated hours... and even more so if overworked. Your plants may be getting less than they would like or need. It all depends on the plants you are lighting. Some plants don't require as much light, so it might be better than it was at full power, but it will continue to die off and become less effective more quickly now that you have surpassed your lifespan. Soltech is rated to last 15 years at 16hrs per day. If you read GE bulb, its basically 5 years if run at 6 hours a day. There is always a margin for error and could last longer. but not by all that much. Same for the soltech light, it could last 20 years, but the chances are it will be less effective by then.

I ended up not using them where I wanted to.
@alfredmeneses54964 жыл бұрын
Are you sure you didn’t buy the GE bulb for “Flowers and Fruit”? That one has a pink tinge because it has more red light spectrum to promote flowering. The GE bulbs for “seeds and greens” are actually balanced. I have them and they definitely don’t have that off putting burple color.
@superfund424 жыл бұрын

I put one in my kitchen island pendants and it's pink compared to whatever costco LEDs I have in there and looks not normal compared to the two Soltech lights that are 15 feet away, which look like normal indoor lights, just brighter. It's definitely not as pink as the lights I use for growing peppers & stuff indoors (Feit Electric full spectrum from Home Depot), but it's very obvious when you have any other light source in the room.
