Bro sent me 3 extra swabs… you’re amazing bro and i really appreciate you. Im excited to finally try cultivating my JMF’s! Ive been growing for a while and have been learning soo many things i disregarded and really started honing in on my grows inspired by you knowledge! Ill only get my genetics from you for now on bro, you got a lifetime custie out of me man. I just made a few jars of cultures and a few agar plates to research! Excited to see how things look in a few weeks! Stay blessed and stay shroomy brother!

👏 👍Is fruiting automatic? Does it change anything from colonization? And how big are your holes?
@johndoh21228 күн бұрын
Hey new grower here, ive always used entry level BRF tek for my grows and want to switch to monotubs. I also want to work with agar and liquid culture as well. What was your grain spawn and what bag did you use? I loved the zip-tie sealing method! I have a very small 12x12x12 flow hood and a tent set up with an inline filter. Was able to get the hood off facebook marketplace of all places. Tested it with a few agar plates and it seems to work. The tent I already had, as well as the inline fan and ducting. So the setup wasnt too expensive, but i need to start growing in monotubs. I was looking up BRF recipes because i have so many empty jars with inoculation ports. It was then i realized i needed to step my game up. This is the best video ive watched yet. Liked and Subscribed! how much agar did you use? sorry for the million questions. imma check the store out.

Not worried about contamination or anything?
@chrisporter1640Ай бұрын
My exact thoughts that spawn is prime for contam if not fully colonized otherwise coir substrate rarely gets contaminated.

@G23-k5r6 ай бұрын
From the Philippines here. I do the exact same tek but I don't use a casing layer. Works a lot better in my experience. Set and forget. As long as the temp and humidity is good you'll get plenty of fruits!
@nathancks5 ай бұрын
Here's what I've noticed: no casing layer is faster and works better if you can really dial in your grain, and substrate moisture content. The casing layer just helps imperfections from making substrate and grains, so it provides a little microclimate to help it. But yes if you nail the substrate and spawn then no casing layer is perfect

Thanks, good stuff as always! Thanks in part to you, I'm moving to a dedicated mono tub grow cycle and so far loving it. Definitely going to try the spawn to fruit approach. Was wondering if you have experimented with adding a casing after initial colonization)? It has worked well for me so far, but not much data to go on. Using a Jiffy/CV blend to create a little different PH at the surface. Mush appreciation! 🍄

Can you use black tubs??? Do you need to do the holes??? What is the substitute/ soil made of??? Any other tips I’m just using brown rice can let you know how I go?
@massa-blasta2 ай бұрын
I would also like to use a black tub with no holes and brown rice sounds good to me, too.
@TonyBrannon-fg5ryАй бұрын
You could use black tubs, but then you may wind up with discoloration of the fruits with no light source. I typically like to do a 12/12 cycle to mimic the naturally occuring light cycles. You do need the holes to allow airflow, especially during the fruiting stage. Some recommend plugging the holes to restrict airflow during colonization and then swapping out for micropore tape when fruiting conditions are optimal and the tub is 80% colonized. I personally use a mix of grains for spawn, but haven't tried rice. And I always go with the tried and true mix of coco coir, vermiculite, and gypsum for my substrate. My biggest tip is to not hover and just let them do their thing, it takes time and hovering only increases your anxiety over contam. I've never had any, and my first grow I was so worried about it I was checking my bags and then tub about every few hours. Just relax and let em grow. Mush love 🍄
@Illumignostic3 ай бұрын
What is the substrate? I can’t get vermiculite in my country. Can you use whole grain?
@ZenAndPsychedelicHealingCenter3 ай бұрын
Use plain, hyrdated Coir for substrate. Vermiculite isn't absolutely necessary. For the spawn, you can use many grains, including bird seed, ordinary brown rice from the store (not the microwave kind), oats, rye, all kinds. The key is getting clean spawn, by using agar/liquid culture and getting clean mycelium to put to grain. Then fully colonized, clean spawn to substrate and essentially just leave the tub alone for about a week.

once the grain is completely colonized its pretty hard for it to get contaminated right?

Hey new follower here. what's the advisable humidity needed indoor?
@Stay.Shroomy7 ай бұрын
normal regular living conditions. gauges dont gizmos don't really help us as they tend to misread what is really important. its best to just use a tried and true fruiting chamber design, trust the process, and look for signs from the mushrooms for any needed adjustments.
@summersummer12324 ай бұрын
Can I just take the black plastic bag "outside" of the monotub?
@Stay.Shroomy4 ай бұрын
Naw its not the light thats the issue. Its when the substrate naturally shrinks that it creates an ideal microclimate. The liner sticks to the sun while it shrinks to eliminate that issue.
@risingpheonix21827 ай бұрын
What do you do about the water that pools at the sides of the chamber bc of condensation ?
@Stay.Shroomy7 ай бұрын
I remove the entire tub to harvest by grabbing the corners of the liner. while the tub is empty, I dump the water out.

I wonder if anyone has lab tested potency using coir vs manure based substrates?
@ZenAndPsychedelicHealingCenter3 ай бұрын
There is no advantage to using manure for cubes. In fact there are more negatives to doing so. The grain used for the grain spawn is the bulk of the nutrient source. It provides all that the mycelium needs. The substrate is mainly a water reservoir. Coir, being fairly inert is just about perfect, naturally resistant to contamination to some degree, cheap and easy to find and use. Coir also does not require pasteurization.
@tommroy3 ай бұрын
@@ZenAndPsychedelicHealingCenter I believe you are correct, just had an amazing flush od ODPE using just CVG. Grew some storm troopers too and felt that the sub needed a little nutrition for that particular strain.

That’s way to much grain spawn your wasting your spawn you could use far less and make a substrate base to get a foothold in
@ZenAndPsychedelicHealingCenter3 ай бұрын
Not how it works. The more spawn, the better the yield tends to be. The grain is the nutrition for the mycelium. The substrate isn't. It's essentially a water reservoir.
