Pomegranate Trees are one of the easiest to grow from seed. Make sure to remove the juice and pulp from the seed by squishing the seed in paper towel and let the seed dry for 2 day. Plant the seed 1/2 in deep and the seed will grow in 1 month. The tree will start producing pomegranates in 2 years.

You take a cutting or 3 in Spring. Put the cutting in root hormone(optional) or just stick it into the soil. You may create a small green house effect with plastic bag or clear container with top. In no time, you will have a new tree.

I grew an avocado (sadly forgot to bring him in and he froze this year), in 3 years he was about 10 foot tall. Never thought to grow pom, which are my favorite fruits. I'm in WI so doing this would be creating a house tree but its always fun to try.

You can get fruits, but it's going to be on the smaller size because your zone is cooler and a shorter season. It depend if you start it in the smaller pot or the ground. If in the pot and than in the ground, it may take an extra year as plant can be stress during the change of environment. On average, about 3 years to fruits. Don't expect anything good during the 1st year of fruit. I don't expect the fruit to taste well in zone 7 because the fruit don't have time to ripe.

Sir Nameshkar I have grown 4 plants from seeds, now 5 years old, Got only 1(One no) small fruit,very sweet,delious. This time in Nov 23,lot of flowering, 2/3 rd already droped, all on my terrace ,in 15" pots. May I request for some Tips to hold flowers and convert in fruiting. Your explation style and Voice, both are Fantastic My regards Som From Delhi India

Pruning may help the tree keep the female flowers. The male flowers will always drop because they don't produce fruit. Prune out the weak branches and keep the strong one that's able to hold fruits. That way, more resource can goes to the flower and fruit.

@@SOMY_4651 Best time to prune is during the dormancy stage. You may prune at anytime, but will lose some production or growth outside the dormancy stage.

I just started a few of these seeds from a very good store pomegranate. I know the seeds will not grow true to seed but will the fruit still taste good? I mean can it grow bad tasting fruit?
@DaisyCreekFarms
@DaisyCreekFarms 4 ай бұрын
Yes, it can grow bad tasting fruit, it's all upto chance. That's why they carefully breed to create traits and then only graft to preserve the traits.

It depend on the mother tree and luck. I planted several trees from seeds. 2 trees was able to produce fruits. Don't expect quality fruits in the early fruiting stage. They are small and tasteless. It's not until the 5th or 6th years with some pruning you get to see quality fruits, unless you got a loser. The 1st tree produced giant size Pom, but all got the end rot. So, was not able to taste the end result. The 2nd tree produce giant size Pom. Pink to red color inside and minimal stain. It have a tender taste, soft seed, and will pop in your mouth. There is a hint of sweetness and hit of sourness. Taste like lemonade or fruit punch. I don't think it was fully ripe, but close. The tree wake up late and didn't have time to finish the fruit before the season end. This year it woke up earlier. It have some good trait such as size (bigger than the parent), minimal stain, soft seed, and pleasant taste.
