The brass item you held up and thought was for pouring looks like a coal scuttle! And I am so jealous! It's gorgeous! I am so jealous of your beautiful rainbow array under the table! How lovely to enjoy all winter long!

@@ChicagoGardener I hear that! I'm not far from you in Iowa (3 hours). We just moved here a year ago, so the garden is slowly coming together, but I am hoping our flowers come in beautifully this Spring and Summer so I can enjoy some next Winter too!

So glad this video showed up in my feed. Loved the many uses of the same flowers - the tree and then decorating with them and then the wreath idea. I will definitely be checking out more of your videos.

I have grown the China asters mix and was never impressed. When I saw your varieties, I had to try them this year. They were so beautiful!

That makes me so happy to hear!! I was the exact same way. I didn’t think I liked them when I tried a mix but love them now.

Your display is beautiful & inspiring. You were able to enjoy your flowers fresh, dried in your tree, & now through the winter in your home. Great job!

Your Christmas 🎄 tree is beautiful and the way you're storing your dried flowers is very decorative 👍My cats loved to jump into the Christmas tree 🎄🐈 it was always a big mess and all those Christmas balls were destroyed. That would not have happened with dried flowers unless I would have taken catnip 😉 Happy New Year 🎉🎆🎊 and all the best for 2025 🎇

Drying flowers is my new joy! My successes this year were celosia, gomphrena, statice and russian statice, but the russian statice didn't hold the color very long - and I tried to dry perennial aster but the tiny hot pink flowers literally folded inward, but I was still left with beautifully textured stems with tiny purple dots on the end. Strawberry Fields Gomphrena is my current favorite. I love all your dried flowers - I can never get my Yarrow to dry though.....

I need to add more strawberry fields this year, I really missed having red dried flowers

My cats don’t bother plants either! Maybe they know the plants belong to us because we’re always playing with them so the respect the? Your theory made a lot of sense but I did adopt an older cat and she doesn’t bother them either. BTW….that display is so beautiful you gave me some great inspiration! ❤

Absolutely loved your Christmas tree! ❤so gorgeous! ❤ I love statice too. I grew the pastel mix and have harvested an insane amount of stems off of just 11 plants. I agree that statice plants look so bad! 😅 I grew all 11 plants in a single large (15") terracotta container and I think it worked beautifully.
@ChicagoGardenerКүн бұрын
I think I’m going to try that, all in one container, because it looked like a hole in my border when it wasn’t flowering 🤣

If you find safflower anywhere (i'm seeing it at Trader Joes), it dries really beautifully and maintains a vibrant orange center.

Thank you! It’s actually a kitchen island from Anthropologie! The don’t carry it anymore but I also found a lot I liked on Wayfair. I found searching for “kitchen island” or “work table” got me results closer to what I was looking for than just “table.”

I can't figure out my statice this year. It grew but as it started to bloom the flowers immediately turned brown? The vintage bucket you have is called a scuttle bucket. I believe it was used for coal. Love the dried florals in the pots!
@ChicagoGardenerКүн бұрын
Thank you for telling me what the bucket is!! I’ve never had that happen to my statice. What variety was it?
@karenneese5820Күн бұрын
@ChicagoGardener I think it was called heavenly blue but was actually more purple. Not sure of its botanical name.
