Great video! I enjoy growing a few fruit trees from seed and sometimes it's the only way I can get a certain type of fruit tree. But the vast majority of my fruit trees are grafted ones of named varieties that should produce good quality fruit.

That's a great point, I didn't think to mention that in the video. I'm after a citron tree, which is not commonly available here also, same as the ponderosa, so seed is the only way.

Since you're growing your fruit trees in pots, (cherry, peach, nectarine), what are you doing to repot or replace soil with fresh soil? Are you taking the trees out, cutting the roots back, and repotting?

I wouldn't worry about it in the mean time, just slowly up pot every other year when it out grows or plant in a large container. when it gets to the point that its root bound and you don't want to go bigger, you could try a root trim in winter when the tree is dormant.

Can you graft a lemon to a root stalk hearty enough to survive Canadian winter? Zone 6a?

wow, a Canadian winter sounds harsh! I don't think any Citrus would survive this. What's your lowest temps in winter? I would grow it in a pot, so you can bring it inside your home in winter, or somewhere that will protect it from the frozen conditions.

@@GreenthumbsGarden on occasion we get to negative 20 or lower, between negative 10-20 is pretty common. average might be around negative 5-10 degrees Celsius

😂 don't judge the weight of an apple by the rubbish available in the supermarket. A huge difference between fruit picked when it's ripe off the tree than one harvested too early for the mass market.
