😅 too hasty Badge... if i had left that bud and then trained it straight i would have had a nice evenly set fruiting branch on each side... oh well. 😅

How long does it take before the tree produces fruit? I have a few seeds from yesterday, so I'm definitely going to start my cherry journey. Just by watching this video, I've also realised that I should've done this to my pomegranate tree. It produced about 10 fruit buds last year with only one really reaching the flowering stage. It has way too many branches and so many leaves. It's Spring in South Africa now. Can I prune my Pommy or will I be killing it?

😂 I snipped it even further back this year and grafted it! I just need to shoot the rest of the video but I'm so backlogged.

You should not have cut off the center one! (The first one you cut!). I hope the last one grows!

My cherry is 2 years. old. It would hurt my heart to cut that much. Should I do it to help it grow? O

Pruning is the only way to keep the tree a good size and help it produce well. This is a very drastic prune because its the "scaffold prune" we heading it right back to the area where we want our main fruiting branches to grow. Its too late in the year now to make that prune anyways so you would be looking at next year, just before spring you want to do this. Also to add the tree needs to be young enough with a trunk not too thick (no thicker than an average thumb) so the bounce back is strong.

Thrash you. It's all so cool.

it is! I'm about to make a quick follow up on the peach prune that we brutally cut back if you saw it. The bounce back has been awesome and now we have some nice scaffolds growing, we going to give it a light trim and remove some of the branches we know we don't want. its great stuff :-)

I like bigger fruit trees and I don't buy grafted cherries. I have some wild ones at the back planted from seeds by my mum years ago and they are huge trees and give tonnes of big juicy cherries. Better than nursery cherry trees

I'm eagerly awaiting this years update! I'm finally able to start my own cherry tree journey so it's going to be fun watching my trees catch up to where these guys are in a few :)
