You can put it in the ground straight from the shops and it will grow just fine. Just keep it wet and warm

My first time growing ginger, i started it in water and it has these beautiful roots and stems coming off about four inches long by now and i have been so nervous to stick it in some dirt. It is very hot and humid here but i have huge south-facing windows! Must have been the extra green love at the end to make me say,”today’s the day we plant!”🙌
