You have enriched my life in the best ways possible. At 70-ish I am beginning to actually love my life because I've adopted some of your views about a simple, more in tune with Nature kind of existence. Neighboring homes are VERY close by (like 30 feet away) and they all hire landscapers, so I am that crazy old lady who cuts her own grass AFTER it grows tall and forms its seeds. Neighbors don't approve, and I laugh. Anyway, what you said about doing small bits of work at a time then seeing big results IS TRUE! I'm so glad that I've finally learned that, now that I have the time and temperament to do my work with pleasure, rather than under pressure. I thank you. This video inspired me to finally open the box that contains a greenhouse kit gifted to me by my daughter. I'm stoked. (American, for excited.) Sending love and Light.

Me too, most people n this neighborhood have lawn service people out to cut grass, edge, rake. Not me, I do all that plus trim shrubs weed my flower beds (many), mulch and plant them. I'm out there all the time working! It amazes me that people will pay someone to come in and cut what is really a small amount of grass. Then of course the lawn service people do it on their schedule whether it needs it or not. Grass out there 4 inches tall getting another trim----wouldn't want it to get out of hand! It will have been totally rainless for 6 weeks but that grass gets cut anyway and huge clouds of dust are raised in the process. I don't know about these people shelling out money, for what is undoubtedly a convenience, have for brains! I plan on going on with this as long and I can-----just seems like a sensible way to go.

I’m facing huge garden chores after a year of neglect but I hear you when you say a lot can be accomplished by just starting and doing the jobs little by little and not getting overwhelmed. I saw huge improvements yesterday by pruning a few roses out my back door. The rest of my quarter acre doesn’t seem as daunting.

We have a massive grape vine it was, a twig 26 years ago when I planted it... It gives so many grapes which feed the birds.. And a certain Mr ratty 🤣oh well the tree rats need to eat.. Colette I have a forty ft fig tree we just harshly prune it in the autumn leaving the fruit which will ripen next year if the birds ECT don't eat them before then 🤣and funnily enough I have a bay tree that is higher than our cottage ... Our garden is walled and I think everything is. So protected....in South West Devon .💕🙏🏼💕

So soothing listening to the rain on the poly tunnel and the birds singing in the background. It is all just so lovely. I wish to mention that since I happened upon your channel, I found that I have more patience and grace when it comes to what, I not so long ago, referred to as a chore. I had lost my desire to work with the land. I have since found my joy in nature again. I missed it so. Yesterday, I was moving black dirt in my wheel barrow. (Lots of black dirt) I had filled the barrow and stopped for a moment and looked at my surroundings and out loud I thanked God for allowing me to live in such a beautiful place. The colors, right now are stunning. I was just taking it all in. The next moment I grabbed the handles on the barrow to move the load of dirt and the wheel fell off!!! There laid the barrow, on its side and all the dirt I had just shoveled into it, laying back on the ground next to it. I didn't get angry at all, which was a surprise. I just went and grabbed a wrench, put the wheel back on and carried on. I think that was God's way of saying to me, "Nothing good, ever comes easy." 😂 Have a wonderful day Colette and may the wheel stay on your barrow!! 😊

The sound of the rain on your poly tunnel takes me back to my days living in a Pembrokeshire long house that had an old asbestos roof. When it rained it sounded very similar and when the gales blew the roof lifted as it was sitting on the 4'thick walls, being kept in place by weight only with only a few pretty hefty rocks to add a bit of strength. I do think the sound of rain is very powerful; in fact any of the sounds water makes when it is in motion I find really soothing and comforting.

This should satisfy all the naysayers that say you don't do the labor yourself. I've followed you for many years and I know you have done all the work yourself. About a year and a half ago I made a huge move of almost 1000 miles. I wanted to downsize my house and simplify my lifestyle at last. The house I purchased was a huge fixer upper. Everything was either broken or dirty or both. When I was feeling overwhelmed I would remind myself of what Desmond Tutu said about how the only way to eat an elephant was one bite at a time. I still have things to do with my new house but I have made great progress. You're absolutely correct about breaking big task down into small manageable ones.

Hello! Now that the rain has finally come here in the Pacific Northwest (US) I am planning to spend my Sunday digging up the weeds from my side beds and laying down bark mulch to insulate the ground for the winter and make things prettier. I LOVE working in my yard since I've not had one as an adult until now in my mid-50s. Your channel and story is so inspiring!!! I am hoping to plant some trees for shade, beauty and birds in the next few weeks before the ground hardens. If I don't get to it, then I'll do so once the next planting opportunity comes. I just love hearing the rain on your tunnel in this video. Thank you for sharing your beautiful life with us :).

We must be on the same wave length, much earlier I trimmed back some sage brush, which we allow to grow wild as the are excellent for the horn toads when the burrow underneath, their primary food source are the harvester ants. We don’t used pesticides to exterminate the ants otherwise it will kill the ants.

Blessings to you Earth sister. Today I have sat and watched a few of your videos and I feel blessed to have found your channel. Your home and the land you care for radiates peace, love and a soulful sanctuary. Thank you for caring so much and thank you for allowing us to peep into such a beautiful place full of wonderment and natural magic. You live as I dream of living and you're inspiring me dearly. I am lucky enough to have a home with a garden, though it's a new home and I haven't been able to break ground yet... I transferred half of my old garden in pots and planters with me and nature arrived so very quickly. I left the other half of my garden behind for the nature that used that garden as home. I couldn't bear taking it all when they'd become reliant on what I put there for them. So here I start again. It's small, but mother will guide me and we together will plant for wildlife and food. In December is when I can start and though the weather maybe against me, I will work with it to start creating and transforming a new build garden into a gateway where the creatures can come and visit. Maybe one day I will be blessed with more land to be able to surround myself like you do. I'd love to be in the land womb too ❤ Ireland calls me, but if I came from the UK I wouldn't want to come back ✨ one day.... one day it will come about I return to where I'm drawn too on a soul level. Thank you for being you and sharing such super videos.

Greetings from across the pond Colette. Congratulations on creating another excellent video with superb production values. Not surprising however - from a strong self sufficient offgrid women such as yourself. Thanks for sharing and have a great week. .🌹🌹😉😉😉😉

Hearing the rain and watching you in the tunnel is meditative. The tunnel is a little magical place all its own! Especially the back area that's more "wild." I planted crimson clover in my patio garden and community garden plot. It'll be a nice winter ground cover. Thank you for a nice Sunday morning video my friend! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜

Hiya Colette, I know the story behind the poly tunnel your grandson would help you clean re plastic that is. It has evolved throughout the years for sure. The rain sound is perfect no worries and the rose still climbing and blooming, bliss. Looking forward to seeing the finished jumper, agree love those wee hand warmers great for using up bits of wool, oh if I knew how to knit perhaps one day? Lol or perhaps knitted by yourself to purchase just a thought? I know you usually don’t reply but is someone else could comment on this question, I live in southern Ontario Canada can we grow Bay Plant in this climate? Thankyou 🐝🇨🇦

I once even distilled the cutoffs of my bay tree, makes a wonderful hydrosol. The (commercial) essential oil works almost miracles with viral infections and swellings, it’s kind of a lymph draining remedy.

I don't know how I missed this video but it popped up today and I enjoyed it immensely! Especially the rain on the polytunnel!, I had my first polytunnel put up in Sept this year and I have to say it's an absolute joy! I just want to be outside all the time, and yesterday I was replanting winter cauliflower and beetroot which I had grown outside but it was being attacked by a family of slugs, and it stated to rain and the noise on the roof of the tunnel was wonderful! It really is the simple things that bring us pleasure!💚
