Always interesting what we can and can't grow here.

Have you grown/tasted Ginger Gold, Ambrosia, Hudsons Golden Gem, Winter Banana, or any of the red/pink fleshed apples? (Pink Pearl, Lucy Glo. Lucy Rose, Hidden Rose, Scarlet Surprise, etc)

Hello, I don't know if gary is watching the comments, but I have questions and I hope to find answers. 1- I don't have pumice available in my city. Does perlite serve the same purpose, and what are the alternatives to pumice? 2- When using perlite, what ratio do you prefer when mixing it with coco coir? Do I need additional ingredients like charcoal or sand are they necessary? 3- Are there differences between cococoir and peatmoss, and which one do you prefer for long-term planting in pots? (If this information has been mentioned previously in videos, I would be grateful to anyone who specifies the video.) I ask Allah to bless your knowledge and work. Best regards.

Perlite tends to float but it still serves the same purpose as pumice. From what I’ve learned from Gary, the less organics you can have in your planting mix, the better. I’ve read that coco coir decomposes slowly too so it probably serves well in place of peat. I try to keep the organic part 1/3 or less of a mix. For example, 1/3 perlite, 1/3 coco coir, 1/3 sand or pumice.

Their Acid Mix is half peat, half pumice so you could try doing half coir and half perlite.

@@heath-emerson Here’s what I did, but I encountered a critical issues with coco peat. The salt levels are extremely high, ranging from 1700 ppm to 900 ppm ,The cocopeat was washed twice, and the reading dropped to 400~500 ppm. cant lower ! tho i use a 300ppm water to wash it. There’s something wrong with the cocopeat, but I don’t know what it is, so I’ve replaced it with peatmoss. Currently, I have two mixtures I'm testing: 50/50 peatmoss and perlite 30% peatmoss, 30% perlite, and 40% sand. will see the results in the future. thank you sir
