I absolutely love the fact that when I Google "graft apple to pear," the first result is an authoritative "No, you cannot...", and immediately below that is "apple to pear graft 5 year follow up."

I have another follow up coming shortly. Waiting on the fruit to size up some. :O)

That's amazing to see how two fruits growing on the same tree.I saw a video about a apple and a orange cut in half and taped together to grow a tree with both fruit on the same tree.🤔🤔

I am Happy to see the results as I have also experimenting the same things and was not sure that it will produce fruits. But now I am very much confident after watching your video that my experiments will surely produce fruits.

Awesome.

The base of the tree that has an issue is probably the SW side. It gets too warm in winter then freezes at night. The frozen sap makes the bark peel. That’s why tree trunks are painted white.

Sounds right to me.

About 20yrs ago I ordered a 5in1 Tree with apples and a pear. It took about 3 yrs to produce. It produced a papple. A pear apple, Or apple pear. It tasted, looked mostly pear and texture was like an Apple soft ball size. Now I don’t if that is actually what some kind of pear species look like, But I think that was a papple. Best canning fruit ever.

It was likely an asian pear from your description.

You should try grafting some cherry and plum onto the 3+1 tree...
@C3Voyage4 жыл бұрын
I looked into that and they're stone fruits that aren't compatible with pome fruit. Well, from what I read. Otherwise, I'd do it in a heartbeat!

@@C3Voyage Sounds like not genus or species issue, but fruit structure compatibility issue. Solid fruit versus soft pulpy fruit.

Supposed to be able to graft in the same species, not different genus, and apple and pear are in different genus. At an agricultural event last year, I asked a professor of agriculture here in California about my pear. It has shitty pears of total wood, which he presumed was a root stock on a root stock. Thanks Lowe's. So I said what about apple or peach which I have in the yard producing nice fruit, and he said give it a try. Never got grafting to work yet, but buds coming out right this week, going to try again apple on this shitty pear. I mean, these pears are bricks. The grafting works this year or I did this monster out.

Good luck to you. This year is year 7 and I was thinking it should've failed by now if it were going to.

@@C3Voyage Sounds like not a species thing but a clade thing. A clade is a grouping outside of family-genus-species of like individuals so that the stone cell-based fruits are compatible.
