The grasshoppers are down here in San Bernardino too. We get them every year around this time. They mostly mess with my flowers, but they also nibble on my greens and basil. The babies go to town on my hibiscus’s and Rose Mallows.

Tulle is the fabric that ballerina's tutus are made from. It's really inexpensive and resembles more-flexible window screen. Robbie of Robbie and Gary Gardening Easy (YT) says that the mice and other plant predators get their claws caught in the fabric-weave and leave bc they've been thoroughly creeped-out. I'm hoping it will protect some of this year's tomatoes to allow some to turn red before the others in the Community bed get fried!

I like tulle. A friend of ours had the grasshoppers eat right through the tulle! 😳 Ridiculous! But I like it because you can cover larger areas easily.
