Hello Gary. I live in an area where dragon fruit cannot survive if planted in the ground, so I plan on growing it in a big pot and moving the pot inside when it's too cold. The cold weather is likely to last even a few months. This means it's pretty much guaranteed that it will grow a lot of those skinny branches. Is it safe to just cut all of those off once I take the pot outside when the weather warms up?

What causes older sections of the plant to turn white and dry out leaving just the outer skeleton of the section but the vascular system still seems to function okay.

I'm so jealous. That's one fruit that is not growing in Chinatown. Too cold around here.
