Would it be dangerous to the plant if I dig it out of leca, remove these roots and then replant into fresh leca with just water roots? I kind of feel I don't want to keep rotten roots in a jar

I'm pleased you found my video helpful. Thanks for watching. Yes, you can remove the soil roots. The nice thing about using Leca is it is easy to remove them from the Leca without damaging the plant/roots. I remove my plants to clean up the roots as well as to remove algae, without any problems. Hooray Peggy for this video! I remember asking you about your orchids quite a while ago and I'm so happy to see more details on your orchids in leca. I feel comfortable rooting in leca but have converted only a couple plants to growing in leca. I really like the Talenti gelato plastic jars for rooting or growing in leca for smaller plants (yes, i like Talenti gelato so I have quite a few). I use a wood burning tool (outside of course) to melt/add two or three holes around the base for the flushing. The lid for the jar makes a nice little coaster for the jar.

Hi there Peggy, I'm just getting used to Leca for my plants and so far so good.... My orchid is in Leca in a glass jar without drainage holes... Do you think this will be a problem for it? Does it still need water at the bottom of the vase?
@PeggysPlants3 жыл бұрын
There are many ways to use Leca. Not having a drainage hole isn't a problem but I always leave some water at the bottom of the vessel.

I see pink princess philo, is she in leca too?

Yes, my PP is in Leca. Not sure if it was when this video was posted but it is now and is doing well.

Why you prefer soil??
@PeggysPlants3 жыл бұрын
I prefer soil for some plants and Leca for others. If it's a plant that needs to be watered more often than the others in my collection, I normally opt for Leca.

@@PeggysPlants 🌵yeah Im preferring soil for that plants BUTT, because my collection is all Araceae, I don’t like succulents except string of hearts which is in soil so… yeah, soil free, gnats free… And of course aesthetic in transparent pots

Have you ever used Pumice.

I prefer the leca because I find it neater and easier to work with.

Is it possible to grow an indoor herb garden with Leca? I am looking for something that won't attract bugs, and that is not expensive, like hydroponics.

I've drown herbs in water so I don't see why it wouldn't work with Leca. Best of luck!

Can I use Leca on photos plant Tq

Sorry, but I'm not understanding your question.

Hello, thank's for the video, do you use the nutrients one by month or more and you put in the pot directly.
@PeggysPlants3 жыл бұрын
I always use 1/4 strength fertilizer in my plant water. Therefore, my plants in Leca get fertilizer with each watering. I also flush the leca when I see mineral buildup on the pellets.

This video was so helpful, thank you for making this so easy to understand! I hope I don’t kill my plants 🥲🥲

I would recommend starting off with some of your more common plants until you are more confident. Best of luck!

Many people grow in vessels without holes. This is just what works for me. Find what works for you and run with it! Happy growing!
