Those are some decent sizes of kohlrabi, you did well experimenting with them. Thank you for sharing your video!

We tried growing Purple Vienna kohlrabi earlier this year, but cabbage worms and aphids had their way with them--plus one plant bolted on us. However, we harvested the leaves and made the best tasting kohlrabi chips with them (like kale chips) Even my youngest daughter who's not a fan of veggies ate them up! 😄 I think we'll try growing them again in the fall/winter months when the pest pressure is much less and the temps are cooler. When I see aphids I use neem oil. Works for me every time. Yes, I think they will do much better in fall as you live in very warm area. Good to hear that you used leaves 🙂 I plan to make kale chips next week 😋 Thank you for watching and for your feedback!

I may try some kohlrabi in my tent. I just pulled some monster radishes out of there, and they were great. Too bad you didn't leave a few in the tent to see if they eventually fattened up.

Great video!!! They look pretty and healthy plants. I sowed my red Kohlrabi to day and hope they will look like yours. Kohlrabi looks like covid19 virus.

Love your video. What day of age is when you harvest them?
@Liap Жыл бұрын
I am not sure but it was around 4 months. They were growing very well under the light, but mainly leaves. When I moved them outside they starting to grow bulbs immediately, even when days were shorter than what they had under the growlight.

They must have very small root systems. I remember I planted 3 in a small to medium size container and they turned out great. A lb each.
@Liap Жыл бұрын
Yes kohlrabi has quite small root system, though it needs a lot of water, especially when creating the bulbs. So if You plant too many in small space, be prepared to water very frequently once they start forming the bulb. The size depends also on the variety and the amount of time they need from seed to harvest.

help my khorabi all split can you tell me where iam going wrong pleae thanks henry
@Liap3 ай бұрын
Hello Henry. There can multiple reasons for kohlrabi splitting. Most common ones are hot weather, drought, or rapid growth caused by too much water after some period of drought. Or even too much nitrogen during the bulb-growing stage. Could any of these be the case?
