I’ve seen many mango trees growing 4 feet apart and thriving for decades - the sun keeps their growth in check. Nature doesn’t measure how far apart trees grow.

What's crazy is that I technically live in zone 9a (yet somehow we experience temperatures down into 15 degrees F regularly) and I couldn't grow half of the species that he is and he is in 9b!!! The USDA Hardiness Zone as a measurement needs some serious revamping.

Unfortunately we can get a freeze in this area. The mango farm Sulcata Grove in Sarasota got quite a lot of damage just a few yrs ago. They recover but it is a risk here.
