So, I just started some mushroom bags (large ziplock bags with holes cut in the sides and bottom) using straw (cold water pasteurized you shared in another video...), and some old oyster mushroom mycelium from another grow (from like a year ago... still worked). Do you have any idea why people start mushroom spawn on grains? Seems like what I'm doing is working just fine, and I could probably step this bag I'm making up to a larger mushroom bucket. The grains seem kind of unnecessary for oysters. BTW, pretty pumped about this bag. Stuffed the ziplocks with pasteurized hay and old mycelium, cut the holes in the bag, clipped on a coat hanger to hang the bag from to the top, and then covered the whole thing with an upside down garbage bag so that it's open on the bottom. You can hang the whole thing in the garage or whatever from the hanger, the garbage bag is kind of like a humidity dome, but it gets good air flow, and the excess water can drop out of the bottom so you don't get stagnant water. Seems to be working pretty well so far, and it's super easy and cheap.
