Mustard is a winters plant although it likes a lot of sun. There are many varieties of mustard. In this video I am growing 3 different types of mustard greens. Mustard seed is used as a spice while mustard greens are used in salads, sandwiches and curries. Mustard seeds can also be pressed to produce oil.

Fascinating. I have tried to grow mustard seeds 3 times. Once they pop up, I find that they tend to dry up. I am planting them in a dixie cup. I have a heater on it and it seems to 'burn' them. The air is not very moist. It is too cold in WA state to keep it outside. An excellent video. I am trying to grow it for my video about the Parable of the Mustard Seed

Those are good to grow and harvest young if you want to eat the greens. The seeds are basically in your cupboard. If you want leaves or stems then there are varieties specifically bred for that which are far more productive. Some of the big leaf ones produce insanely big leafs. It's amazing to compare and see how we've selected for certain traits. The ones with tender stems (chinese ones) are delicious pickled.
